A free web hosting service is offered free of cost to the users. This service is normally supported by advertisements and has limited functions. The free web hosting facility provides either a directory or a subdomain. In contrast to this, the web hosting services that are paid, usually give a second level domain to the users along with the service of hosting.

Some of the services that are offered for free allow the use of domains that are separately purchased. The free web hosting service rarely operates as the domain name register. Amazingly, the registry services of such services are expensive than the other services.

Features and Limitations of the Service:

Some of the free services of web hosting offer free basic packages and the enhanced packages, having more features for a basic cost. This helps the users to take an initial trial of the service for comparing it with the other hosting services and then, elevate the service as and when required.

The limitations of the free hosting services are mentioned below.

• There is a limitation on the size of every file that is hosted here.

• It gives a small bandwidth for a month as compared to the other services.

• It prevents the hotlinking of the files.

• Certain types of files are not allowed on it.

• It requires the mandatory placement of the banner of web host and the pop up ads on all the web pages.

• It does not provide uptime guarantee.

There are several webmasters who wants to start their own web hosting company. The first thing one needs to do is he should know that from where he should start. The next important question, which arises in the mind of the user, is from which source he will get the required information. This article will present the basic things that one requires in order to become a successful web-hosting provider.

Before starting, user should be very sure that becoming a successful web host is not possible by just reading the books rather it needs practical experience. It really sounds easy to run servers but actually running it is a damn difficult job. In many cases people who have taken good precautions while choosing an experienced server but still they should know by their own how to deal with security threats, downtime and fixing program errors, then only they can work properly else they have to face big problems.

Starting ones own hosting services is not an easy task rather it is very challenging and some times even irritating. One option to think about is reseller-hosting plans. There are many good web hosting companies offering paid reseller hosting and relieving user form wasting time in maintaining servers. One may consider this option to get a customer base going.

One can rent, lease or buy the servers, if he decides to buy the servers, he should get it custom made according to his specific needs, if user is having sufficient money, he can try to get a server that best fits into his plans. He will need a place to keep the server. He can find local building to do this or he can also keep it at home. But utmost care is required if user chooses the option to keep server as home as else it can lead to problem which one even cant imagine.

After crossing all these steps its time to choose the operating system. Now the next question that arises in oneâs mind is-which operating system to be used i.e. Windows, Unix, etc., the next step is to opt the control panel like Cpanel, Plesk, etc., which security to use and many more. All these steps should be followed by proper research and care should be taken before finalizing anything. User should also keep in mind that if everything is going according to his requirements or not. User must also consider that there is several programming languages that can only run on certain operating systems, most web site owners want programming languages such as PHP or PERL.

There are many actions that should compulsorily be performed by the user and one of them is he should always keep his servers up to date with the latest security patches. He will need a good firewall; the firewall is first protection one has and most probably the best one. It’s also very important to monitor the servers full time for any errors, hackers or virus, one slight carelessness can lead to hacking of oneâs server and result can be loosing all customers.

If any one desires to get the highest possible server uptime then he will require multiple Internet connections. Depending on the area in which one resides, it may be tough to find an Internet connection provider. One will need a fixed IP address, that won’t change after each use. All providers donât offer this; so it is the responsibility of the users to check before he chooses.

Another point to consider is the pricing issue i.e. what are the charges one should ask for his web hosting services? If he is charging too high people will leave as being expensive, at the same time if the charges are quite low then too people will leave thinking servers are overcrowded with another web sites and that the services offered will be terrible. Now the question is what kind of plans to offer? Shared, reseller or dedicated hosting or maybe all of them.

When anyone really thinks about all these points, then he knows how difficult it is to become a successful web host and then the option which he considers best is to go with a reseller hosting plan, this will at least give one the taste of what he needs to do and help build him building a customer database

For the purpose of multiple webs hosting customers the role of providing features of a dedicated server is done by Virtual Private Server (VPS), or also known as Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS). At first look it may possess a contradictory appeal; how one can have a dedicated server which is being served by multiple users? Isn’t it looking like a regular shared or virtual hosting environment? There is nothing to contradict in the statement that, with a Virtual Private Server the user has to share system resources for e.g. CPU and RAM with other users but the resources are owed and modified in such a manner that it is impossible to predict that the system possess someone besides the user on it, to a large extent ideally like a dedicated server. Thus resources are modified and arranged in such a way that each hosting client is allowed to exploit an allocated percent, means the resources assigned to a particular user will always be there all time ready to serve him/her.

Merits of Virtual Private Server (VPS) web hosting

Majority of users prefer complete command of their server environments and do not wish to share the server with several other users, who could easily exploit all the available resources and can cause problem to other users by creating unbalance. But at the same time several websites do not require a dedicated server. The Virtual Private Server (VPS) alternative is a very fabulous slot hosting solution for a fairly large lump of web hosting clients who prefer the stability of a dedicated server however on a smaller scale. With the resources setup in such a way that each person can only use what is in his/her own share, one’s site will be more steady because it will always have the same amount of access to the CPU, memory, as well as to the bandwidth. Virtual Private Servers are preferably more safe since even as the user share the memory and CPU time, he/she are allocated his/her own file system. For an instance, if a website on the server is hacked, the hackers will be able to admit to that particular file system only and can not harm the other existing websites. Besides all these advantages, A VPS is also affordable as compared to a dedicated server.

Demerits of Virtual Private Server (VPS) web hosting

As till now discussion was on the pros of a VPS and one might think that this is the finest thing .But there is another side of the coin as well as, not all providers setup or define Virtual Private Servers, also known as Virtual Dedicated Servers, the exact same way. One should ensure that provider guarantees the user that their setup is robust enough to knob the operations at a peak level. A commonly prevailing trick generally put into use by the providers in the field of reselling and shared space is ‘overselling’. It denotes selling more in terms of services than what is physically available, with the gamble that the end users wouldn’t exhaust up all the service that were advertised in front of them. In the dominion of VPS this can be a bit more severe, as at least the expectation is that one is working in a more vigorous environment and there are many clients running more intensive applications like message boards or custom web applications. A shortage of resources could result in causing problems for each one hosted on such a server, therefore evading the benefits of a VPS. In a mutual or dedicated environment the user might be able to access more quantity of resources during peak or spike periods but since the VPS environment restricts the user to use his/her own piece of server resources, it can come in front as a drawback.

With dynamic and changing technology web hosting is not sufficient, in the same manner there are some problems with VPS services also. The user has to tackle with the problems of CPU cycles and RAM distant for storing of space and bandwidth. So the user will see advertisements for hosting that might include MHz and MB RAM to go with the usual hosting related features. It is something difficult to calculate out how much CPU time or RAM the user might require, so one must look for a hosting provider that will provide him/her with some benchmarks and the ability to upgrade or downgrade the VPS service as and when required.

JUDGMENT:

- Permits complete control of user’s virtual server and its resources

- Permits the user to run web applications without unfavorably affecting other clients

- Flexible – cheaper than dedicated hosting, more expensive than shared

So Go ahead and best of luck!!!

There are several people who considers cheap web hosting similar to free web hosting, however it may be a bit harsh, there are certain factors underlying which the user should keep in consideration while searching for a cheap web host.

These related factors are given below:

Downtime:

One cannot find an ideal output; if even after spending immense amount of time and bucks in the construction of a dream site, user reaches to a point where people cannot access it. Hence, in the process of selecting the ideal web host from the ocean of cheap web hosts prevailing in the market, the user should ensure that available downtime does not harm business due to use of cheap quality host.

Be Cautious for Bandwidth attack:

For a user it is a vital factor to keep in mind the amount of bandwidth and storage space the host is delivering to him/her as an output of monthly payment. Bandwidth, no doubt is a golden key for a site’s success, as a site which is very well known, which attracts huge amount of traffic will obviously require more quantity of bandwidth. It may happen before the expected schedule and it is quite necessary that the user should have some options left with him/her if he/she faces sudden shortage of bandwidth. Or else, the user may need to counter extended downtime in the condition when it should not happen, so as to grab the lump of traffic that the user is attracting.

Check technical skills of the host:

It is a sign of ideal webhosting services if they put provision of their web servers on their respective sites. When the user deeply analyzes this information he/she comes to know about the stability of host’s server system. The user can easily judge, the inverse relation between stability and downtimes. No doubt, there are several guys not having the technical knowledge, but at least they can consult somebody of their knowledge assisting them in analyzing the technical terminology at the hosts’ site.

Verify the site several times in 24 hours:

It is quite common with several webmasters that due to huge amount of work they even forget to check their own sites. One cannot deny the fact that, it is a serious matter. It is very necessary and for this even if any extra effort or cash is involved of hiring somebody to do it for him/her on a regular basis through out the day, then too it is a profitable act. The job is not completely done with the site’s frequent accessibility but presence of everything and working efficiency should also be considered. This is the only way measurement of user’s efficiency and business is conducted by visitors, so one should take trouble for no one but for his/her own sake to ensure proper uptime and efficiency of the site.

At the end, one can say that, it is not impossible to get cheap but hardworking host, but it will need an ample of work & checking from the other side i.e. from user’s side. A web host directory is another friend which assists a lot in such situation.

It is a matter of fact that if user has decided to use cheap web hosting then he/she should know about his/her actual requirement of disk space in advance. User should have actual knowledge of area of website, no. of pages, video files, music files, etc. required by the user. Next, the cheap hosting company to which the user is dealing with should possess the knowledge of the correct demand of the site. If user is having immense amount of visitors, then cheap web hosting may not be the actual choice. Next point depicts the quantity of email accounts required by the user. Cheap hosting companies are not much lenient in this facility. At the end, the user should know the actual amount he/she can spend from the pocket. Hosting companies providing service at the cheaper rate are not much technically fluent in comparison to expensive hosting.

One can easily locate the list related to top 10 cheap hosting providing companies on the website. They are ranked according to their price, quality, and service satisfaction. Such companies are priced in the range of $4.95 to $19.95 per month. The cost of their service can change according to user’s expectations and requirements. In such services available disk space can be in the range between 3000MB to 5000MB. The variety of bandwidth can be from a small quantity of 40GB to an extremely immense quantity of 300GB. If this available option is not sufficient for the user then he/she should look for an alternative choice rather then low cost hosting. The majority of low cost web hosts put forward free set up. This will make the route quite smoother for the user. One should be very careful while dealing with a low cost host, providing unlimited disk space because in several cases the real output and promised output are quite different.

One cannot deny the fact that still there are large segment of people who are not much convinced with the cheap web hosting, they can find the alternative of free web hosting. It still deals with a price, however. In the market there are several companies offering free web hosting to any user who subscribes to their particular internet service. The user may still need to pay for the internet service, but the hosting service provided by the company is absolutely free. This is the best possible limit to be reached in case of cheap web hosting.

So, user should consider all the available alternatives and should choose which thought to be the ideal one.

The foremost thing which one should keep in mind while choosing a low price web host is that, how much quantity of disk space is required by the user, i.e. precise amount of MB, the number of pages, quantity of video or audio files, or any miscellaneous things. If one’s website is going to have an ample amount of visitors then going for a cheap web host may not be a preferable option. A further crucial thing is the number of email addresses delivered by the low priced web host; it could be smaller as per expectation, thus one should vigilantly analyze all the features offered by the hosting company.

In order to make all the aspects clear one should fully analyze merits and demerits of investing in low priced web hosting. Therefore if one analyzes top 10 cheap web hosting companies, one can discuss about 3 aspects i.e. price, quality and services provided. One can receive a cheap web hosting at the rate of $5 and $20 per month. Provided space can be in the range of 3GB and 5GB, and the bandwidth between 45GB to 300GB, both the features can vary as per price paid.

One should look for a web hosting company on whom he/she can depend upon. One more crucial feature is the customer support. One can say that, customer support is the root of web hosting. A dependable host should possess both phone supports, as well as email support because in case of emergency phone support can be more effective as compare to email support. When one talks about email support, response time is the area where all the importance lies. Few takes hours and even days to respond while for some few minutes are quite enough. In addition to it, in few companies customer support is restricted to certain hours only; however, when one is looking for a dependable host the support should be 24/7.

Hence, for getting cheap but dependable host one should merge two points mentioned in the article. One must do continues investigation and measure between features and offers delivered by different hosts. One can use above-mentioned points as equipments to end the search at the right choice, with happiness and satisfaction.

While doing selection between a free or paid web hosting service there are several things to be keep in mind. Excluding cost, there are some other critical factors which play a key role.

Top most things which user should concern about are the intention of creating a web site. Is the intention is to share mere photos of the relatives and friends? Or else, the aim is to include several pages with dissimilar text on each making the task comparatively more composite? Or rather the site is meant for professional purposes?

User should know the objective of his/her concern web site in order to choose an ideal host. For instance, if the site is meant for personal snaps then it need not to counter an excess amount of traffic and limited amount of disk space and bandwidth is quite sufficient.

For the above mentioned objective free hosting can also be recommended. If the web master is inexperienced then also a free web hosting service can help him/her to brush-up html skills.

The user should be aware of the fact that he/she will enjoy less features and assistance in free service in comparison to paid service. But, the provided services are quite sufficient to hold up a web site on a small scale. However, user should remain ready bear the problems related to displaying of offbeat advertisements.

If one going to choose for paid hosting, he/she will find several options to choose from including various sorts of packages. Talking about features like disk space, bandwidth, free domain names, free sub-domains and unlimited email accounts are comparatively more and quite advanced in case of paid hosting. Other advanced features include a CGI-Bin, MySQL databases, Microsoft FrontPage extensions etc.

One can largely depend on the hosting services provided in paid hosting including customer support which is not to that extent in case of free web hosting.

If one talks on money basis then registration for a free web hosting service is free, even though user needs to buy his/her own domain name. When one talks about a basic paid service, then the expected range will be $5 to $10 for a month. By paying a small amount one can enjoy enhanced services, customer assistance and features.

By this article one can get to know about the technology used in multiple server hosting as well as how to utilize it to maximize oneâs site and security and uptime

Now the hosting of site has converted into a commodity where competition has raised to a very higher level and itâs very difficult to discriminate among the hosting plans on the basis of core plans, features and prices. Moreover choosing a host based on the cheapest price is not a better idea rather it thereafter proves to be very expensive in terms of reliability as well as possible loss of sales as a result of website downtime.

Choosing a best out of thousands of providers and resellers is a very scary task, which is rather based on hit and trial method. Even if hosting has become a commodity still while choosing for new host one should look for reliability.

Now at the heart of any hosting company’s reliability is redundancy. Redundancy offers an alternative remedy in case any problem occurs. This is to ensure continuity of work as seamlessly and transparently as possible.

There are several hosts, which employ redundant network connections. These are the high-speed pipes that route data from the server to oneâs web browser. As against this, redundant ‘multiple web servers’ are quite rare and expensive and so are rarely used. They are expensive due to use of costly routing equipment, which has previously been used, only in mission critical applications of Fortune 500 companies.

There is yet another very neat but little known Domain Name Server (DNS) feature called ’round robin’ which allows the selection and provision of a particular IP address from a ‘pool’ of addresses when a DNS request arrives.

The Domain Name Server (DNS) database maps a host name to their IP address. Thus instead of remembering a vast series of numbers (IP address) one can just type in his/her web browser www.mydomain.com, to get to oneâs website.

Now in order to publicize DNS info throughout the market it will typically take minimum 2 to 3 days. That is the reason when one registers or transfer a domain name it isn’t immediately available to the person browsing the web.

This delay has foiled the security benefits of hosting oneâs site on multiple servers, as the site would be down for a couple of days in case of any problem with one server. As a remedy one has to change his/her DNS to reflect the second server and has to wait for several days before the change was picked up in routers on the Internet.

There is yet another solution for the above problem i.e. the round robin DNS strategy that solves this quandary, by mapping oneâs domain name to more than one IP address.

One should now select that hosting companies which employs the DNS round robin technique in conjunction with’failover monitoring’.

The DNS round robin fail over monitoring process starts by a web hosting company setting up oneâs site on two or more independent web servers. Thus oneâs domain name will therefore have 2 or more IP Addresses assigned to it.

Thereafter the fail over monitor watches oneâs web server(s) by dispatching data to a URL one specifies and looks for particular text in the results. Now when an error is returned from one of an IP address, it pulls that IP address out of the list. The DNS thereafter points oneâs domain name to the working IP address/s

In case any of the userâs IP’s come back online they are restored to the IP pool. This helps in effectively and safely keeping oneâs site online even if one of the web servers is down.

In this case an average failure detection and recovery time with a system is very low with just 15 minutes. However this time varies depending on siteâs speed as well as the nature of the failure and also how long other ISP’s cache (save) oneâs DNS information.

The time taken for other ISP’s caching oneâs information can be manipulated in the fail over monitor by lowering the “time to live” (TTL) cache settings. These are the settings used by other ISP’s in order to determine how long to cache oneâs DNS information.

One must also keep in mind the matter of how frequently data is synchronized between his/her website’s servers. Now this comes under the hosting company’s responsibility, and this becomes complicated where databases and user sessions are involved.

The most elegant solution to multi server hosting is very expensive hardware based fail over monitoring systems that point a virtual IP address to other ISP’s, while behind the scenes juggling a number of unique IP addresses on different servers.

This way, the whole issue of ISP’s caching oneâs information does not come into play.

Thus in order to get 99.99995% uptime, without spending big amount of money, the technology is readily available and certain proprietary failure monitoring systems are now relatively cheap to apply.

Before starting to search for a web host its important to decide whether to opt for dedicated web hosting or shared web hosting.

A shared web hosting account is an account on a web server that hosts other shared accounts. The number of accounts on one shared server can vary widely from few hundred to several thousands. For many small businesses hosting website on a shared server is a workable solution due to the fact that they are quite cheap in comparison to dedicated servers. These accounts have limited access to the core administrative functions of the server. In shared hosting plans, there are several companies offering comprehensive technical support for users along with the complete technical support, which is usually included in the price of account plan they offer.

As against shared hosting, a dedicated server is usually dedicated to one, or just a few websites, usually for the solitary use by individual company only. Dedicated servers are quite expensive as compared to shared hosting. Among various good features offered by dedicated server, one feature is to have access to the core administrative functions of the server not only this most dedicated server plans offers good technical support. There are some companies which don’t have an IT staff or a server administrator to provide support, for them many dedicated hosting companies offer “per issue” support, which means that user is required to pay a certain amount, which is usually an hourly fee, for technical support issues. Not only that some dedicated server plans have optional “support tickets” that one can purchase in advance.

Apart from above discussed two there is another option called a “managed dedicated” hosting plan. With this one can get a dedicated server and the required comprehensive support, which usually comes with shared hosting. Thus it evades the drawback of insufficiency of IT staff or a server administrator and provides all the technical aspects required for running a server. For this extra facility they charge extra price thus managed dedicated hosting plan is expensive in comparison to unmanaged one.

Thus all above can be summarized as whatever type of web hosting plan one choose, one must make sure that the plan is having all the required features.

One who is having even little bit knowledge for hosting knows that this service can be availed for free or for several hundred dollars. But the question is what’s the difference? The answer is quite shocking often times if one is talking about typical shared web hosting in the $6 to $20 range then nothing. Except for good old fashioned marketing and hype. That’s it!

In a survey conducted on 5 well known shared hosting accounts to see exactly what’s the difference between free web hosting and paid web hosting the results that came out are quite shocking. The survey was conducted keeping in mind the factors like requirement for a basic site like adequate disk space, ample email accounts, and reasonable bandwidth. After looking on all the other bells and whistles the result was there were not many who were really willing to pay loads extra for them. Also the term taken was not long but a short term say monthly or quarterly.

Upscale

Verio’s Bronze Plan –

Monthly Price (including set up fees) – $24.95 per month + free setup

Basic Specs – 250 MB of disk space, 7.5 GB of bandwidth, and 20 email accounts

Extra’s – Web design software, free domain pointing, Urchin web stats, free chat software

Opinion – If this were 1998 one would have consider paying $24.95 for a package like this but, as its 2004 it’s not a good choice.

Mid Tier

Interland’s b100 Account –

Monthly Price (including set up fees) – $12.95 per month + free setup

Basic Specs – 250 MB of disk space, 10 GB of bandwidth, and 30 email accounts

Extra’s – Web Trends web stats, access to log files, firewall protection

Opinion – In hosting this is considered as one of the biggest brands in hosting and even their prices have came down but still it is expensive in comparison to other competitors.

SuperbHosting’s U Power Service –

Monthly Price (including set up fees) – $12.50 per month + free setup

Basic Specs – 1000 MB of disk space, 50 GB of bandwidth, and 250 email accounts

Extra’s – Free domain, 30-day money backs guarantee, daily data backups, and free search engine submission, no content restrictions

Opinion – Mid-tier is the well-known hosting service that seems to offer considerably more value.

Cheap Hosting

IPowerWeb –

Monthly Price (including set up fees) – $9.95 per month + $30 setup

Basic Specs – 800 MB of disk space, 40 GB of bandwidth, and 400 email accounts

Extra’s – $50 Google AdWords credit, money back guarantee, SSL included, unlimited email forwarding

Opinion – It is considered as one of the low priced hosting leader. They are really cheap with offering services for mere price of $7.95 per month.

HostSave Standard Hosting –

Monthly Price (including set up fees) – $8.95 per month + free setup

Basic Specs – 1000 MB of disk space, 100 GB of bandwidth, and 500 email accounts

Extra’s – Free MySQL database, catch-all email address, PERL v5, log file access

Opinion – This can be considered as one of the best deal for the fulfillment of basic needs. The advantage is that they are having a big brand name and all the features one requires plus the MySQL database.

Conclusion

Thus it can be concluded that one can pay a lot for basic shared web hosting but it can be availed with a low price as well. However there are certain special features which justifies paying extra but overall as it is all hard earned money conclusion is cheaper is better.

Shared Web hosting is a type of Web hosting service, wherein numerous websites are placed in one component of server which is linked to internet. Every individual website has its own place, section or partition in the server that separates it from other websites. This is a very cost effective method of hosting web, where numerous people share the entire cost of maintaining the server.

Shared Web Hosting makes use of a web control panel. It can be from Cpanel, Plesk, H-sphere or any other control panel system. There are various share hosting providers, who cater to numerous customers wanting to host web. These providers handle the entire installation procedure, security checks, technical details and other service factors. Most of the servers have Linux operating system called as LAMP.

Methods Of Shared Web Hosting:

Shared web hosting can be carried out in two different ways. The first method is Name based shared hosting, which has numerous host names on individual machine. It also has own IP address. While browsing the internet, web browser asks for resource from the server via http/. It admits the required resource as request and server takes this information and shows the requested website.

The second method involves IP based shared Web hosting. In this case, every individual host has distinct IP address. The server is designed in such way that, it houses many virtual interfaces on one physical interface. The software in the server takes the IP address sent by client and locates the website to be shown. The main benefit of using IP shared hosting is that, it employs its own SSL certificate.

In the world of competition it’s really very difficult to find the right host among thousands available. Problem becomes more critical if individual is not sure about his/her exact requirement. Looking keenly and examining the promotional material and information of every host will make the process quite time consuming and challenging. In case an individual is aware of his/her requirements ,keeping that point in view one can easily choose the right type of web host suitable to his/her business.

If an individual’s requirement is simple then only it is easy for him to choose an appropriate host but in case, requirement is little bit specific then he/she has to work a lot for choosing a right host, as its not so easy. Free web hosting is not at all considered best if a person requires guest books, a counter, polls, shopping cart or any number of other features on his/her web site as it does not support such features. Free web hosting not only restricts several features but also at the same time limits the access of website as most of the times user’s site went offline. Also one biggest drawback of free web hosting is that it does not provide good customer support or other technical support which is very essential for one’s business.

In this world of competition one can find a good paid web hosting company at reasonable prices, the only thing required is some homework on the side of user. Thus it is always considered best to first browse and look at several hosts before selecting the right one. Also while choosing an appropriate host one should keep in mind the requirement of services as well as other essential features and options which he/she needs for his/her site? If we take an average mostly the prices of all paid hosting are same, but still there are some offering quite high prices. So one should look first all the available options and then only he/she should finalize someone as else he/she will waste his/her money unnecessarily.

Once customer is satisfied with his/her search and thinks that he/she got the right host, he/she should not forget to check the support and customer care. One can check the support by sending email from their contact information and can ask some questions in order to check the quality of support as well as response time. Also it is best to check in advance what will be the extra cost for extra bandwidth and web space if required in future. A very distinguishing feature of appropriate web host is they will always provide proper phone numbers as well as live support so that their clients can reach them easily in case of any technical problem. So good luck for your search!

No doubt each website desires an ideal web host; however the user might get trapped into a dilemma in choosing online a host because of huge variety available, ranging from absolutely free to relatively expensive. How can the user come to know what is his/her requirements and what can be the ideal choice? The answer of this may vary according to business in addition to whether the user have a lot of business or nothing at all, however it is the desire of every user to have more space than he/she actually thinks and requires.

The 7 key constituents which support supreme web hosting are mentioned below:
Ingredient no.1 Availability of 24/7 Support

One should while choosing a web hosting company certainly requires to make sure that they have the facility of 24/7 support. The reason for this is if the user has a problem with his/her website, he/she needs to be able to talk to someone and have it repaired right away. As long as the host offers this type of support there is nothing to worry about. But if they don’t, the user might have to wait several days with his/her website down and disable to contact anyone. Therefore one should just think of the customers user will be missing and overall loss he/she suffers due to bad support.
Ingredient no.2 Availability of Large Bandwidth

One should make sure that his/her web host offers a generous amount of bandwidth in order to support the website. Also he/she must ensure that it loads as quickly as possible. The more bandwidth denotes more information that is carried and the quicker user’s page opens. So, one should make sure that he/she possess a web host with plenty of bandwidth to support his/her site.
Ingredient no.3 Extreme Space for Storage

Despite of whether the user needs it now or not he/she should select a web host offering plenty of storage space in case he/she may need it in near future. One should give himself/herself some upward room.
Ingredient no.4 Importance of E-mail

In case where user possesses both web host plus URL he/she may also require to have his/her own e-mail that ties into his/her (user’s) company name. One should search for a web host that offers this as well. Most of the proper hosts used to do so, but some of the hosts might try to trick the user with fine print so he/she needs to be remaining alert from such people.
Ingredient no.5 Supplementary Domains

One might have only one domain name today, but the future is unpredictable. The user should be sure enough that he/she could add additional domain names if he/she required doing so.
Ingredient no.6 Domain Parking

There are certain conditions when the user have a domain name, but do not have his/her own name server and subsequently require a web host that will allow them to store or “park” there (user) domain name on their server for user’s domain to remain valid for an extensive phase of time.
Ingredient no.7 Tools to supervise one’s Site

Despite the fact that the user have found a web host that meets all of his/her requirements, he/she should be certain that he/she (user) also have a tool box that will help him/her to manage his/her site quite conveniently at whatever point of time. This is really important for the user to be able to do, particularly when he/she wants to alter something for e.g. prices, or any other vital information.

Hosts providing low cost services declareDoes cheap means an awful thing? Perhaps not always! However, today’s competitive market scenario demands for sensible customers. to the user that, “he/she will have entire world in the fist just for Rs. 900 per year” but, in reality user even struggle to get basic services. Some of the users may surprise from the previously mentioned statement. But, clarity will be provided in the upcoming statements.

For describing web host in a synchronized manner, one can say that a “web host” is a company involved in the business of acquiring bandwidth (internet connectivity) and servers (glorified computers) with an intention to re-sell it, but in smaller amount, to people who demands for storage space for their concerning e-mails and websites. The process is usually done by renting dedicated servers in the company of a decent hard drive plus bandwidth quota and then employing a control panel to split the server resources up into smaller masses termed as ‘hosting plans’. The key objective is to balance such plans in a way that it can benefit both client and host in terms of reasonability and profit respectively.

A chaos of new web hosts increases by the day, due to easy entry and profitable business in this market. This makes the market competitive providing direct benefit to the customer. There are several cases where it happened that the provider in order to get market share decided to offer cheap prices and as soon as he/she started getting customers he/she revised it. Before anybody realizes it, the game is almost over. This is quite seen in country like Pakistan and that too every 10 months after.

“Nice”, one will say or not? Go on…

Hence, what a web host can conclude from it? Abruptly, all their present clients are paying them half of the complete utilization. It signifies that, in the upcoming year, they need to generate two times new business just to earn the amount equals to last year! A sensible person does not recommend it as expansion!

Unfortunately, it is not essential that the amount of clients will jump tremendously with respect to every price shave. Hence, the user is left with the only choice to cut short the price. Thus in order to save cost instead of 3 people support is made available by one person alone. In the same way if there are 2 servers, the whole load is shared on one server lower operating costs. Now these steps have a positive impact on the host’s service but the service may suffer from lack of support, downtime and slow server response.

Now, if the host is giving preference to its present clients, he/she modifies his/her cost in such a way that every client will get a feel good factor. I should always check whether a web host is in the business of providing best service with long term vision in mind or he/she is quoting less price and good profit just to trap customers. It is often found that there are cases where earlier hosting companies offered cheap services at quite less prices just to attract customers and thereafter turned bankrupt. There are not many people who are aware of this trap and get in trouble afterwards. Things are getting worse due to the fact that now the older hosts are deciding to get better off by reducing prices rather than improving on service. In order to get away from this, the younger companies started following and create problem for themselves as well as to their clients. The resultant of this mess is all the customers just get diverted to foreign web hosts in order to get better services.

User should keep in mind that what all is important is good service and all other things are secondary. The ultimate motto of user is that he/she should get what he/she is paying for. Now it is on user to decide whether to go for cheap web hosting or to opt for good web hosting.

If one has several alternatives in front of him/her regarding hosting, a situation of dilemma definitely arises. It is because every host is enthusiastic in grabbing customer due to stiff competitive market. If the search ends on an ideal host, then the user will get the reward of spent time and money. It can be terrible to jump from one hosting service to another. Through this, one will not only loose precious time and money but above all will loose valuable clients as well.

The aspect which plays a key role before going for the suitable host is the disk space require by the user. It is because area of the site(s) matters, while searching for an ideal host. One can generally adjust around 30 pages in the disk space of 1 MB. Here one can include text and also images but not more than 1 or 2 images a page. This is a rough estimation not more than that about the disk space required by the user. One should carry the approximation for the future growth also. While dealing with a host one should ensure about their upgrade policies so that there should no problem while dealing with future prospects.

Further prime concern one should put in mind is that, what quantity of traffic is userâs site will attract. It is not a sensitive issue unless visitors are thousands in number every day. This can put a negative effect on the hosting services because of the amount of data transfer on their web servers. If one considers majority of cases, then an ideal web hosting services can tackle around 30,000 to 120,000 page views a month or rather one can say 1,000 to 4,000 MB of data transfer a day. While searching a web host it is quite difficult initially to estimate requirement by a user however a rough estimate can even prove worthwhile.

While selecting a host one should ensure the features and facilities provided by the concerned host. All the good hosting services widely differ in the kind of features they offer to the customer. One should patiently verify that, the features provided by the host matches userâs requirement or not. Some of the features like email accounts, email forwarding, mailing lists service, CGI scripts, MS FrontPage support, web statistics/stats etc are essential to consider. It can be a daunting task to relocate all the account to receive the best web hosting services once after the establishment of web site(s).

One can discuss and confirm about an ideal hosting service to several business associates or people who are familiar to this issue. One can do it by an alternative way of referring search engines like Google to know and compare about different services of hosting and their features regarding support, tools and policies. Proper time denoting and investigation will assist the user to end the search to an ideal and dream web host.

What is Blogging? It is a contraction of the term “web-logging”. In a simple language, blogging is an online log that is arranged in an undo sequential order. It covers the entire comments, declarations, links, or any other thing of concern to the blog writer.

But before beginning one’s own blog, one needs to fulfill two root necessities.

1. Software to access a blog.

2. Position on the Internet to host it.

If above mentioned factors are fulfilled, one can have four categories of blogs:

1. Free Software plus Free Web hosting

2. Free Software plus Paid Web hosting

3. Paid Software plus Price of Web hosting

4. Paid Software plus Paid Web hosting

Recommendations and descriptions regarding merits and demerits of these four options are given below:

1. Free Software plus Free Web hosting:

An absolutely free route to blogging! Here both software and the virtual hosting demand no money.

Now, comes to the negative points in this system. In this system availability of the features is less in comparison to the paid services. Online posting of pictures or giving favorite look to site also restricted.

Companies delivering free software and domain hosting frequently exploit the user by putting their advertisement in his/her site declining site’s look in visitors’ eyes.

The prime advantage is that it is a completely free system. It is quite useful for a new comer trying different experiments regarding blogging.

So, this choice is left open for all those who worth their money or are newcomers.

2. Free Software + Paid Web hosting

Through this option one can get free software but need to shell out for the domain hosting.

Cost factor plays a very important role in this option. For domain hosting minimum charge will be $5 a month but actual budget would be a little bit higher i.e. around $7-8. A yearly registration will charge around $10-30.

One will get additional facility lacking in free hosting. User has the liberty to change the look of site as per requisite and can also post pictures. However, softwares in it lag behind in features as compare to paid softwares.

One can prefer this option because only at the cost of virtual hosting and domain registration, one can enjoy outstanding features and flexibility.

3. Paid Software plus Price of Web hosting

One can call it as subscription-based option. Constant charge prevails in this option.

User requires recompensing at least $6 and $15 a month for basic services and advanced features respectively.

The charge grows up to $200 a year, making this option a highly pricey one.

Along with the option of customization of site’s look and online posting of photographs, the user will receive software delivering additional features in comparison to a free one.

People do not like to bear troubles related to virtual hosting and software installation issues con prefer to use it. Undoubtedly, it provides outstanding features but demands some high charge.

4. Paid Software + Paid Web hosting

In this alternative, one needs to pay for both software and domain hosting.

The price of domain hosting would be around $5 to $10 a month however, user needs to pay at least $45 for software a time.

One can enjoy an ample amount of flexibility through this option. One can not only owe his/her own domain name and also can have all round blogging software.

One can give preference to this alternative as cost cannot be a hurdle when it is a matter of business.

There are several users who suffer from the problem of vanishing of their site from the internet. And they don’t know what the reason behind it is. There may be several factors which plays a role behind it. But one the major aspect is the selection of wrong host.

Selection of host is a very important task. Because it decides in which way user’s business will go. Either it attains heights or rather gets spoiled. If user does not take this issue seriously he/she can loose a large amount of income due to incapability of web host.

Mention below is some of the guidelines which will assist user to end his/her search on a right choice:

Guideline no.1

One should ensure that the hosting company is to whom he/she is going deal with should have there own web site displaying about their functions and features. Having own web site can assist clients to quickly receive customer support and to know about the availability of domain. Possessing his/her own web site for as company is must.

In addition to it, one should also ensure about the availability of company’s site on the internet. If it is not available frequently one should search for another host.

Guideline no.2

After that one should enquire about company’s experience in this sector. The concern company must have at least one year’s experience. An inexperience host will do nothing but try new and difference concepts on user’s web site, which can adversely affect his/her business. User should enquire about them via their web site. If they hide the information regarding their experience then one should forget about them.

Guideline no.3

A user should also refer the testimonials containing client’s reviews. One can directly ask them via phone or e-mail. If they approve the concern host one can go with them. When user does not find any form of testimonials regarding reviews he/she should immediately quit the web site.

Guideline no. 4

What is their responsive time? One can confirm it by putting some fake questions and wait for their response. If the user is not getting response in 1 to 2 days he/she should throw that option away.

Guideline no. 5

What are their charges to provide the service? Charges should be nominal including all the features required by the user. These features includes proper monthly transfer, email addresses, MySQL databases, CGI bin, FTP access, and control panel. High amount of charges cannot assure excellent services. One should keep it in mind.

Guideline no.6

The route of providing payment to the host should be in a secure way. One should not disclose his/her credit card details while making payment. Payment methods such as paypal and egold can be effective. While dealing in a country where one cannot easily use credit card it is better to go for a host to whom one can pay in his/her local currency. This will also provides relief to the user from the problems related to renewing of domain and hosting accounts.

Guideline no.7

One should deal with a web host who provides full day online access to his/her account. Due to it, one will have full command over his/her domain and web site and can even change his/her name servers (DNS) as per requirement.

Guideline no. 8

Going with a web host providing additional features like web design, website promotion, search engine submission and website management. Such services can be very fruitful from future prospects as there is no certainty about future.

Guideline no. 9

Prior to dealing to a company one should remain aware about their terms and conditions. If there is any term which is not clear to the user he/she has the right to ask the company for clarification.

Guideline no. 10

At the end, certainly the whole process is not only a daunting one but also time consuming. But the time denoted to whole process is definitely worth it

First of all, there are a large amount of several kinds of hosting – from dedicated servers to image hosting. The type of hosting that you need generally sets the guideline on how a good deal you are going to spend. I am going to break down the categories by pricing only but should include the types you can get for the price.
$0 Free Web Hosting Plans
These are generally your free website hosting, image and file hosting. Free website hosting aide is exorbitant if you wish to make a quick mini site, want to test out your website building skills, trouble a place to test scripts, etc. Free web hosting is not argued for any websites you plan to initiate money from.
$1.00-$10.00/m – Shared Web Hosting Plans
This price range covers hosting plans for your general website. Any medium income website should be OK within the price range. Be levelheaded though – do not expect to get wonderful service from a host offering 100GB disk space and 1000GB bandwidth for $2.00/m.
$15.00-$40.00/m – Virtual Privet Server (VPS)
These price ranges include high end shared hosting, reseller plans, and VPS plans. These are by and large reserved for special websites like a web hosting reseller or a website such a requires root access(a VPS plan) for whatever reason.
$45.00/m -$400+/m – Dedicated Server Hosting
This price margin can key in some above the usual end VPS plans as well as dedicated servers. You will want to go amongst a dedicated server if you have a high traffic website or high resource usage website (forums amongst 100+ active users(users online at a single point in time) very much ask for their own dedicated servers because SQL usage goes through the roof.
I pray that by now you suffer a well indication on how a great deal you want to spend/need to spend on your web hosting. I also wrote a more detailed article that can be found over the resource link below. This will help you additional if you a good deal are unsure about the price duration you must be in.

Itâs quite difficult and confusing to start any type of online marketing or Internet business.

There are many aspects to be taking care of such as domain name registration and purchase, purchasing of Web site host and “construction” of the Web site by own. Generally users donât want to follow this difficult path rather chooses the easy way of getting everything from one place.

This results in growth of âtotal packagesâ by many hosting and Internet development companies, in which domain-name registration, software for design of a site or an online method of building a site, professional design of the site, and of course, the hosting are included. The users commonly use this, as it looks quite easy especially to the beginners.

But the story is different which brings problems afterwards. There is no road as paved “with gold” and this type of registration, hosting and design package deal is no exception.

The real problems emerge afterwards which are discussed below: -

1.On the popularity of a website, most of the host providers use to increase the prices. With increasing traffic there is no other option for a user than to pay more. Thus it forms a very big problem for larger business sites than for smaller business sites or “personal” or “theme” sites.

2. In the beginning some providers provide some “specials” but they are only for a limited amount of time, and rises with popularity of website.

3. Another major problem faced by a Web site owner is that his/her needs changes with passage of time and there arises need to change the package and then the user is confronted with problem of inability to change the pages on his/her own, another problem which puzzles is the inability to effectively track traffic, as some come with traffic statistics packages.

4.Another problem, which occurs after wards, is the Downtime i.e. when a site is down and can’t be viewed. This asks for change of host or change of domain name registrars.

5.Often situation comes when a Web site, registration, and web hosting package company suddenly disappears, leaving a client with no way to contact them. This not only causes loss of the registered domain name, but even the loss of revenues while the site is “down”.

6. The hosting companies make contracts which states that the “special” prices are only offered conditional i.e. which are applicable on remaining with a certain company and for a specified amount of time only.

7. The actual “name” of oneâs site may not be even actually registered to “him” but to the hosting and registrar company that initiated the purchase through the package deal. By this way the Web site hosting, design and registrar packages “save” money several times for consumers, as they advantage of buying in bulk, registering hundreds of sites on a monthly basis.

The above problems can be easily resolved by simply switching to other Web site hosting and domain name registrar.

But wait! Wait! Wait! Itâs not so easy as some hosting and domain name registrars donât allow to “handing over” a site to any other company, as it means loss of customer or more interesting loss of money. The current hosting company tries all to create problem in the form of delays in transfer, by refusing to provide sufficient information to a new host or registrar to effectively conclude a transfer. Most worse is, if the name of a site has been registered to them.

At this point of time a real “nightmare” for the user starts. He tries all to get the response but all is vain.

There are several incidences, which shows that itâs really hard to shift to another provider.

One of the users named Rahul after much downtime wrote to the initial hosting company, and domain name registrar, stating his disappointment in the service. The response was quite annoying it was that he should either “like it or lump it” and that nothing is in their hands, as a contract was in place that could not be “broken” by any means. The language of the e-mail correspondence was quite harsh and uncalled for with no phone number for personal contact; even the name of the support person that wrote the e-mail was missing.

The site remained down consistently, as well, over the next few weeks, forcing Rahul to sign up for a different hosting plan with a different host, and also re-register the domain with another registrar. Thus it was just waste of time and money but still he was fortunate as the registration of the site was in his name and there was no need to purchase a new name. However at the time of transfer, old host refused to initiate a transfer, claiming that the contract remained intact, and therefore the site could not be transferred. Thus forcing the new hosting company to “maneuver” the site onto it’s own servers without the cooperation of the previous company and putting the unnecessary money burden on the user.

Chapter was not yet over, few months later Rahul was billed repeatedly by the previous hosting company for monthly hosting, even though a site no longer existed on their servers. In order to stop all the Copies of all correspondence had to be sent to the billing service to “dismiss” this recurrent billing, which was the only option left to Rahul at this point.

Thus it is not just one incidence but also one out of the many.

The following are some of the ways to avoid trap of these companies-:

1. One must read all paperwork and contracts thoroughly. The copy of the contract should be clearly visible and each word of the contract should be read thoroughly as this will help in saving from frustration and misunderstandings later on.

Not only this, one must make sure that the registration will be done in “his/her name”, as the loss of a popular name, at that moment when there is large amount of traffic, is a great loss for any user. Most preferable is that one should register his/her domain name him/her self. Registering domain is not a big deal with so many online domain registrars. The only thing one is supposed to do is that after buying a hosting package immediately he/she should change the “name servers” through the control panel provided by the domain registrar.

The best advantage of doing so is that if one is not satisfied with his/her hosting company and would like to shift to a different company, simply he/she is required to change the name servers to point to the new company.

2.In order to avoid problems afterwards one must sure there is a contact phone number and physical address for correspondence with the companies. As most of the times the both are missing and user is left with no option than to feel harassment as well as time and money loss as seen in above example.

3. One must do his homework properly before finalizing any hosting company. He/she must do proper research on different plans and different companies. One must check through references the image of the company and also must ask from their current customers about the support being offered at the time of crisis.

4. One must take time to correctly ascertain his/her own needs and the needs of any site he/she is planning to build. The package must be âas per requirementâ.

5.It is most advisable to use different providers for each stage of a Web site: hosting, domain-name registrar, site building. As everything is online it does take longer to get a site up and running with this method, but the best part is by doing so the overall control remains with the user. If one is disappointed with the service of his/her provide simply he/she is required to shift to new provider and that is quite easy as to replace one is easier than to replace everything.

Thus it can be seen that sometimes “time saving” strategies are not really fruitful and they can lead to heartbreak and headaches afterwards. The moral of the story is “slow but steady” wins the race. So act wisely.

Choosing an operating system (OS) that runs the web server hosting ones site is as old as the business of web hosting.

All the functions of web server and hosting a site are controlled by operating system, so one should pay particular attention while choosing operating system.

Options one really have while choosing an Os are:-

One can choose between webhosting based on Windows, Linux or UNIX operating systems. List of options will narrow to only two just if one has a brief description and analysis of the different systems.

Microsoft’s Windows server operating systems (NT/2000/2003) makes IT teams to easier in this aspect with its quite friendly and familiar user interface feature. Their range is absolutely impressive and its excellent integration capabilities with other applications developed by Microsoft gives another plus to its feature.

The beginning of the Internet era was powered by the OS UNIX and is still used today due to its qualities whereas Linux OS was developed having Unix as starting point and thus both share many features. Due to higher licensing costs and specific hardware requirements for UNIX, Linux version of the UNIX system is more common on web servers today. With taking UNIX into account this is the reason why we will continue with Linux only. Linux hosting fulfills all requirements for a good web server and Web serving, file serving, mailing, and streaming. It has also proven to be a very cost-effective choice from using hardware efficiently; it also allows more web sites per server ratio, which results in decreasing the cost of hosting per account.

Windows v/s Linux.

Trustworthiness

Linux OS were seen as more reliable over Windows during the past period. So here are our two choices Windows and Linux. But with the release of Windows 2003 server Microsoft has closed the gap in this area. Both Windows and Linux servers are compatible with definite Microsoft extensions and applications.

Web Programming

One might want to add up some simple scripts to add some spice to ones site even if one is trying to host a simple website. Matter becomes bigger when one is trying to host an e-commerce site supported by some serious server-side programming.

What do our two competitors do in this aspect?

As java scripts are executed on the client side (the user’s web browser) and both Linux and Windows have no problem feeding this content to ones visitors supporting java scripts is not a topic to be argued upon. Discussing server side scripting is a whole different matter. It is common perceptive that ASP is supported by Windows and PHP is the tool to do just that under Linux for web site owners trying to put into operation forms on their site. Even Though both OS have developed solutions to support each other’s programming language for web development this support is not ideal and the limitations propose Linux for a good PHP support and Windows for ASP, especially when it comes to hosting websites that require the full use of advantages offered by PHP or ASP.

Front Page extensions are supported by Linux. If Perl is the scripting language of ones choice, one should opt for Linux as Windows offers only limited CGI/Perl support.

Databases

Few databases are required for dynamically driven web sites. Often one will come across mySQL or MSAccess for sites employing databases. Web site has no problems while hosting it on either Windows or Linux if it is relying on mySQL, but for MSAccess databases, one has only option of Windows.

Price
Webhosting on Linux is cheaper. As the licensing costs, are lower than that for Windows and Linux has the ability of web servers to support a higher web site per server ratio without compromising the quality of service.

Even though hosting on Windows cost a bit more, one will get something for ones money i.e. quick development and functionality.

Choosing an OS one over another depends chiefly upon ones actual needs and of the plans one has made for the future of ones web site. For instance will it move from static web site to one relying heavily on server side scripting? And if it is so which programming language would be used: PHP or ASP? Accordingly ones web site will be placed on a Linux or on a Windows web server.

Option between Linux and Windows is offered by almost all serious web-hosting providers. No one is the actual winner as yet of this contest. Preference of one system over another is given only by ones requirements and the needs of the visitors.

Reseller Web Hosting is a type of web hosting, wherein the owner of the account has the capability of using their bandwidth and allotted hard drive space for hosting the websites on the third party’s behalf. Initially, the reseller buys the services of the host wholesale and then, embarks on their sale to the customers for profit. Certain portion of bandwidth and hard drive are allocated to the reseller account. For this achievement, the reseller might either resell the shared hosting services or rent the dedicated server from the hosting firm. In case of the latter, the reseller is simply granted the permission of selling a certain amount of bandwidth and disk space to the customers without having to rent the server from the web hosting company, from whom the reseller account was signed with.

More about Reseller Hosting:

Typically, web hosting reseller might be a systems integrator, a web developer and a web design firm that provides web hosting as a type of add-on service. Reseller web hosting is an inexpensive method for web hosting firms to start a company. Most reseller hosting plans permit the resellers to select their own pricing structure and their own service plans.

In most cases, resellers are in a position of establishing their own branding through name servers and customized control panels. Reseller web hosting does not need extensive knowledge of the web hosting’s technical aspects. Normally, the responsibility of maintaining the hardware and network infrastructure rests in the hands of the data center operator.

For a user it doesnât matter that in what way and at which place he/she should host the web site but the whole marketing strategy will get affected when userâs site suffers from downtime. Since, several years there are people using almost a dozen different web hosts providers. By that time, if one talks about really good ones which are virtually hassle-free, then they are just one or two and who charges good amount of fees.

One cannot deny the fact that web hosting costs have declined remarkably in past few years, still one should not measure a hosting service only on the basis of price. It may probably happens that service provider demanding high charges can also be the reason of userâs loses of several dollars in the business.

While exploring a reliable host user should give preference to quality in front of cost. Only paying excessive amount is not the criteria, rather user should find a host through whom he/she can enjoy several features without much hassle.

Technical assistance:

An ideal hosting company provides 24/7 tech support to their clients. User should ensure that company should not only have an email support but also phone support, so that in case of an emergency one can directly contact a representative to tackle down his/her problem.

Period of Down Time:

Every hosting provider will claim one or the other form of uptime guarantee. One should carefully analyze the written material on the small print in order to fully understand their actual assurance. There are certain chances that the assurance provided was only for the website but not for the email services.

One can find several hosting providers in the market claiming for a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Which denotes that they are assuring downtime will be not more than 45 minutes each month. Certainly, if the user is involved in a big business such a small spare of time can be critical and can be quite enough to damage the whole business operations.

The user will certainly get some compensation if the hosting provider fails to meet the assured up time, but it will be not quite enough for the user to fulfill the damage occurred due to lose of traffic and even in the business. If the user is suffering from down time more then oneâs a year then he/she should look for another host providing adequate service.

Server Load Monitoring:

One should verify that his/her host should bear the feature of handling the server load that userâs site will produce. Particularly, when userâs site will catch a large amount of traffic while dealing with majority of hostâs, it is at that time that user will receive a restrictive amount of bandwidth only. If he/she exceeds it may needs to be compensate with extra amount of money.

Hence, one should have full knowledge of bandwidth allocation. So that, nothing undesirable should not happen while user was enjoying a large amount of traffic.

Secure Server:

Secure server can be very useful for the users who do not want their credit card details or storing personal data to be disclosed to anybody. This is because protection is a demanding aspect for every internet shopper.

There are few of the hosts who navigate their clients to the secure portion of their server and due to this URL will actually change making site inaccessible to the visitors. The drawback of this is that several web sites place their online store on such a secure area which will remove userâs potential web pages making it away from the potential search engine rankings.

To avoid all these problems one can secure an area in his/her own site, which the user can do through buying a secure certificate for his/her domain name. This is later âinstalledâ by the web host providing infinite secure areas in his/her site with own domain. One can consider it as a remedy of professional level getting rid of all sorts of troubles.

In-House Hosting:

There are several companies which are the web hosting providers altogether in favor of hosting their sites on their own in-house servers. Thus, one can get few benefits of doing this but one should go for this if he/she possesses a full-time IT person who is specialized in web server management.

One can promote site accessibility through In-house hosting. The capability by which visitors can access to the site and can download material from it highly rely on userâs local ISP and the connection efficiency. Still connectivity with broadband DSL or cable, cannot provide adequate speed as required. It will raise the time taking for the download and adversely affect the efficiency of site if there is a huge amount of traffic.

There is no assurance of uptime while dealing with In-house hosting and in some way also lag behind in adequate technical support.

However it doesnât matter whether userâs server is suffering from downtime, or there is no Internet access, or scarcity of power, oneâs site will remain inaccessible to the visitors.

Thus at last one can conclude that there are several pros and cons of every hosting need.

What can be the suitable one is up to the choice of the user.

Varieties are spread outâ¦.go and search out.

Web Hosting is today’s one of the prime requirements. Emerged from simple HTML pages hosting to a full blown web based hosted applications, creating several useful facilities for the people.

One can see Internet as a means of linking the business through out the world with the help of production of web based technologies like ASP, ASP.NET, JSP, PHP, etc. This choice has forced various options for web hosting now as HTML based sites work equally well on both Linux and Windows platforms.

Talking in fact, Web hosting platforms differs according to operating systems. If one talks about the most common and popular operating servers then the two names which come first in the mind are Microsoft Windows Server and Red hat Linux. As the names of most popular servers have already been disclosed, it leaves behind several questions to answer. Which includes merits and demerits of both the servers? What are the reasons of Linux to stay ahead? Etc.

Linux platform has been constructed by Community based efforts and with the assistance of several IT companies like Red Hat, Suse, and Mandrake it has been specially designed for professional application. Due to such a backup unit Linux Server is known for its strong, inexpensive and protected platform.

Today, quality and security matters without much effect on user’s pocket, which makes the Linux a good choice. In addition to ASP, ASP.NET, other web based technologies also efficiently run in Linux. No cost distribution of PHP, MySQL, and PERL has massively reduced the charges involved in hosting on a Linux Server.

When it comes to Linux hosting probability of virus attack, spamming and hacking are relatively few. Robust architecture and cost effective software’s play a very important role in this.

Given below are reasons why Linux based web server dominate over Windows:

Stability: very stable and provides uptime around 99.9%.

Ownership cost: Linux operating servers comes without any charge or with simple charge. A fully fledge server with desk top applications. One will get stable server applications like FTP, Web Server, DNS Server, and File Server for free of cost.

Cooperative to User: one can easily host on Linux web servers. Both Linux and Windows have simple procedure when it comes to uploading and hosting.

When user’s requirement is to run tool like Front Page on a Linux based web server, he/she should confirm that the Front Page extensions are facilitated. This formality is necessary only when user is uploading using HTTP feature of Front Page. One should also ensure that if he/she chooses “Front Page Extensions”; at the time of web site design, user should facilitate Front Page extensions to Linux web server. Nowadays, one can purchase Linux web servers with installable Front Page extensions, without any sort of problems. Generally, assisted file extensions include, .cgi, .html, .htm, .pl, .php, .shtml, .xml, etc.

Accessibility between hosts: A web site recommended for a Linux based web server can be hosted on a Windows web server easily, but its vice-versa may not be obtainable.

Scalability: one cannot overlook future expansion of the web site. It is dynamic and flourishes as per user’s necessities. One can consider that web design well-suited to a Linux/Unix based web server can match scalability requirements much easier as compare to others.

If you’re not all that familiar with the many faces of web hosting, shared hosting is the most common form you will find. Companies like BlueHost, WebHostingPad, Fatcow – they all offer shared web hosting services. Shared hosting is the first choice for many individuals and small business owners. In fact, most of the sites you run across thrive off this type of platform. While there are many benefits to such a solution, there are disadvantages you need to be aware of as well.
Advantages of Shared Web Hosting
Cost-efficiency – The cost benefits of shared hosting are all in the name. Because you are literally sharing server space with other web hosting customers, the provider is able to save money and offer a cheaper service. Combine this with a highly competitive market, and you can easily find yourself a shared hosting plan for less than $10 a month. When considering all the features you can get nowadays, these affordable web hosting packages offer excellent value.
Simplicity – Shared web hosting actually describes the basic concept of managed hosting, which is generally refers to dedicated servers. What this means is that the host maintains the server and associated hardware in their data center. They provide you with connectivity and handle all the complex server administrative tasks. This is an ideal solution for anyone that doesn’t have the know-how or manpower to run a server or simply needs to focus on the vital aspects of their business. In addition to that, comprehensive tools such as control panel software and website builders also make the shared hosting environment much easier to grasp. Even the most technically challenged can succeed thanks to the rapid evolution of web hosting technology.
Disadvantages of Shared Web Hosting
System Crashes – I’m gonna give you the cold hard facts – although you can find yourself a respectable provider, the reliability of shared hosting will always be questionable. Even with proactive measures such as loading balancing, placing thousands of websites on a single server makes the machine susceptible to failure.
Performance Issues – Performance can also be an issue. Let’s say you’re experiencing moderate traffic while Joe Blow who is sharing the server with you gets a sudden burst of traffic. A neighborhood’s traffic can have a direct impact on your site, causing it to lag with pages that take forever to load. We’ve all experienced it so you know that slow web pages are a real drag.
Security – Security is another critical element that isn’t guaranteed in a shared hosting environment. Web hosting companies provide customers with a lot of power these days – way too much if you ask me. All it takes is one amateur webmaster to misuse .htaccess or another sensitive component and stir up all kinds of chaos on the server. If you’re not as proficient as once thought with development languages, your PHP-based web applications can be left insecure, providing intruders with a gateway to your data. Then there is always the threat of sharing server space with a hacker looking to compromising unknowing users like yourself. The worst part of all, you might not have a clue what’s going on until its too late.
This is not a knock on shared hosting, just a warning. The mere structure of this environment makes it vulnerable under a wide range of conditions. The good is that with a little research, you can find yourself a reliable company with the knowledge and technology to ensure as few issues as possible.

Every beginner who is quite new to internet and who starts surfing the internet for him/her its very confusing to select the right web host provider for his/her host. Due to inexperience most of the beginners selects free web hosting or cheap web hosting which makes them realize their mistake afterwards .All the efforts of these beginners gets useless due to their small mistake of selection and this mistake makes them feel so demotivated that they even don’t think of starting again. It is nothing new that everyone wants to get anything for free but here in this case “cheap” becomes “more expensive”.

The following are the reasons which make the above statement true:

1.The biggest drawback with fee web hosting is that they never offer any sort of guarantee and so there are chances that it can be removed the very next day or in near future. Not only has that it also led to permanently removal of one’s site from the search engines. In this new era of I.T there are billions of sites coming up every day and their popularity lies in the fact that how old is their existence and what is their place in the search engines. Now in case one deletes his/her site from the server its very hard to get it back as that space is immediately procured by any one else.

2. Another drawback is free web hosting or free sites are usually supported by advertisements and other stuffs. In case one has created a free site in sub domain and also finds good free hosting. In order to boost business one also have perform some offline and online promotions to one’s customer’s friends and other people who are known to him/her. Now here one is getting in trap of hosts by promoting his/her ads and other stuffs… Not only that the persons who might have book marked one’s site will not find it again once it is removed by the host. Thus overall loss will be of the user.

3. There is a big difference between a top level domain and a free sub domain. Domains are quite different and represent one’s status .In that case no other competitor can steal one’s name and clients can easily memories the name as well. However in case of free domain, any one can have any amount of free sub-domains, in that case the fate of the user will be worst if his/her competitor has started using the same name.

4. In case a very good client finds the user on the web and is very interested in his/her products and services. Now before hiring one’s services he would definitely like to know more about the user or rather he will perform research as he should contact the user or not first. If the user is having a free hosting site the first impression that will imprint on the mind of the client is that the user is not at all a serious fellow and would rather ran away. Thus it’s better to have personalized top level domain and consistent hosting services.

5. In case user finds a cheap web hosting company, he/she should think twice before finalizing the deal. If the company is offering cheap service, one should look at all the possible reasons, why it is so cheap. In most of the cases the outcome of research would be poor support or service or let say no support at all .As support or services both involves some cost which the providers save by not employing any support personnel. Thus one should act very wisely while taking the decision.

6. Another mistake which usually the new comers do is that they don’t keep any backups of their work rather they rely on hosting providers for this. Now in that case worst can happen if the host’s server went down or due to any reason free host might have removed the site, now the user is only left with an option to just start from the beginning which is really very painful.

7. With beginners another problem is they are not sure for their requirement. It’s understandable that no one can predict his/her exact requirement for future but if one’s requirements are clear, it’s quite easy for one to choose the host as per requirement. One should always consider if there is any possibility of shifting from static site to a dynamic one or he/she may require using certain scripts. Thus if needs are properly ascertained at present they will help a lot in future.

Against all the above disadvantages there are some advantages as well which are as below-:

1. Its not necessary that all free hosts are bad or decisive, there are some who may be an excellent host which is up-coming and can provide wonderful services as well. There are some providers who are offering free hosting just to promote their services and to add more customers in their list.

2. In some cases even cheap and affordable web hosting may turn fruitful, if one has taken all precautions in advance while select the host. Thus even proper homework can turn a free or cheap host into a best host. One should always select the host having better server, updated software’s and who offers quality support in reality.

3. Also it is not all sure guaranteed that all the free websites are going to be removed without notice or which are going to bring a bad fame for one’s company . There are several good and reputable companies like Google’s Blogger or Yahoo’s Geocities which helps one to increase his/her link popularity if used in a proper way.

Thus the above were some of the points in favor of the cheap web hosting .At the end we can say that while choosing a host one should keep in mind that the host is the one who is going to protect or harm one’s site and so he/she should take utmost care while selecting the right one .A good web host is like an honest employees who works dedicatedly for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year for keeping one’s business running successfully all time.

With the advent of time, several type of web hosting emerged in the market which can broadly be divided into various categories as under.

One can get hosting service both Paid and Free; Linux/Unix-based and Windows-based (other which are inferior in terms of popularity); shared, dedicated and VPS. However each of this type of hosting has its own merits and demerits.

But the main objective of this article is to explain user about the prevailing merits and demerits of shared hosting.

However, before that user should understand what is the term “shared hosting”.

Shared hosting is type of hosting in which a host provides space to a user on his/her server which he/she has to share with other customer’s web sites. Same software and operating system is applied by all web sites. With this type hosting however a user can have more advantages as compare to free web hosting.

One can again divide Shared web hosting into two categories:

Free Shared Hosting:

It is considered an ideal choice for a person trying some new concepts and who is not interested in paying money for paid hosting. This type of web site hosting provides the user with everything which is required for boosting his/her site. However, one cannot avail excellent facilities for his/her site. Site will receive restricted amount of Bandwidth and Disk Space. Such type of hosting will not guarantee user with MySQL, PHP support. Web statistics will also be of worst condition.

Paid Shared Hosting:

This will provide all the essential features which free shared hosting seldom to provide, these include e-mail, MySQL, and PHP support. One can use it if he/she wants to host small business web site, intermediary or large professional site but don’t requires the entire server’s space. Via shared hosting one can get a good possibility to host his/her site on an influential, well administrated server at a cheap per month cost.

Shared hosting is quite popular among the webmasters who are beginners, because of providing reliable web service to that user also who do not have unique technical skills.

As now one must have understood what is the shared hosting, we can come to merits and demerits of shared hosting:

Features in favor:

A. Low cost

B. Fine server administration

c. Multiply e-mail, MySQL, PHP support

Users don’t having special knowledge in web site and server administration can also conclude it very well.

Features in against:

A. Low security level

B. Resource limitation – same memory, CPU and Hard Drive is used by everyone. The user is compelled to use only that software which is provided with his/her particular hosting company, and likewise one cannot install his/her own server.

Other restrictions can be due to security policies of the company.

The best part of shared hosting is that one doesn’t need to worry about possible server problems as for this hosting company’s support service is available to sort all problems. Thus, while selecting a shared hosting one should carefully examine the company support’s quality, the better the quality of support – the better would be the conditions for site.

Also with shared hosting one can place several sites in the neighboring parts of the server.

So, finally after knowing all the pros and cons it is on the user to decide the one which is most suitable as per his/her needs.

There are followings things that one should keep in mind for experiencing a better web hosting experience. However the biggest tip is that one should not hurry and should take his/her own time for considering their offer and then selecting the best out of them.

The biggest tip is that one should clearly ascertain what are his/her needs and then should the following things:

1. Price: One should try to maximize his/her budget as best service can not be availed at just one dollar per month.

2. Scripting: One should ascertain in advance what scripting technology needs to be supported?

3. Database: One should check what database one’s web site requires?

4. Disk space: One should also ascertain the amount of disk space required.

5. Bandwidth: last but not the least user should ascertain the amount of data transfer.

Now, coming to point one should first find out 3-4 hosts that are meeting his/her requirement. Thereafter one should write the preferences in chronological orders.

We’re now going to look at each one of them and see how well they compare.

Price Freeze Guarantee

The user with a price freeze guarantee can lead his price fix and thus can control the web hosting prices. However the prices even don’t go down with this. It is a fact that the prices of web-hosting services have gone down rapidly, thus giving an additional incentive for the web hosts to advertise this guarantee.

Now there are several questions that emerge in the mind of user like what one should find out from the web host, if the web host lowers or increases the prices on one’s package, will they lower/increase one’s price as well? Does it still hold if user pre-paid for the whole year? For all these and other questions one should email and get their response and in addition should check the response time taken by them.

Things in addition one should know

Since how long is the business in existence? One should try to find out since how long one is in business. It is a fact that web hosting companies that have been in business for long will have the date prominently displayed on their website and as against this new companies don’t disclose such informations.

Why is this important?

It is very important to know about the company because no one would be happy finding that his/her host is out of business at any time as it is a general rule that one who is longer in the web hosting company is going to stay longer.

Now, an important thing that comes in one mind is that and any web host can go belly up anytime but if they’ve been in the web hosting business for longer period let say more than 3 years, one can assume that they are making some money, because it is a general thinking that most hosts are small businesses and they cant afford to work unprofitably for a longer period as they don’t have much capital.

Is taking of Web Host Feedback necessary?

Now the question emerges is taking of feedback necessary and answer is yes! One should check the web hosting message boards. As it is the place where there is plenty of information and feedback on most hosts.

In case these boards are not available then one can simply ask for registration which is usually free and so many people can read the web hosting boards and thus one can get all answers very quickly.

As soon as one finds his/her host’s feedback, one should check the date of the feedback.

In addition to above one should check the severity of the complaints. One should check what the types of problems are and then should react accordingly.

Thus one should look out for the feedback on one’s web hosts. One must make sure that he/she should get some good points in it. After that it is possibility that the particular host selected is the right one.

One cannot deny the fact that, the reach of internet is vast and through out the world and when it comes to marketing scenario the customer is consider being ultimate. He/she is an individual who comes to the market with well defined objectives and requirements. Thus it is a challenge for a hosting provider to aim customer’s well defined objectives. Web host needs to move straight forwards with the certain strategy focusing on the futures such as price, uptime, reliability, support etc.

A few time ago there was a research conducted about the selling aspect of the hosting industry. Can a low priced host perform well? How nice it will be if a low priced host will propose features like maximum bandwidth and disk space. At the end the conclusion was that the largest host would be the low priced host with the maximum bandwidth and disk space, with an outstanding support and placing advertisements all over the client’s site. It can be useful for several people, but the Return of Investment (ROI) may consume the entire life-time of a person.

The web hosting industry contains majority of SMEs. For them large investments in marketing may not provide results as per expectations. Still one can find several web hosts in the market who have flourished themselves from a mere reseller hosting system to a thousand servers within a little spare of time. It is quite surprising that the number of hosts selling at low price was zero. They had done nothing but created a niche market for their purpose.

One web host concentrated merely on resellers and termed it as private label reseller programs. They gave out additional amount of disk space and bandwidth and demanded for additional charge. Their merits – slighter customers, advanced cash turnover and comparatively smaller support requests as the resellers takes care of their own customers. Another web host concentrated merely on webmasters. In fact, Webmasters usually possess more than one site. Hosting cannot be considered their main business and they demand a reasonable solution. In addition to it, the majority of webmasters have the technical knowledge and in comparison they require a community where interaction with other webmasters is possible.

Everyone knows that in a little span of time identical things take the place in market and adopts the standardization of industry. This is again test the way to effectively control the market by the host. They can take the step to concentrate on merely on certain services of hosting. For instance, email only hosting. This can be very helpful for the people for whom email is highly decisive. The user may go for the emails on another server which is totally dedicated to emails only. Thus, if by chance the prime site faces downtime, they still have an alternative route to get the mails. One can take backup hosting as another suitable example. At this juncture, the web host would backup the whole information related to a site in a frequent period of time.
Web hosting provider can also concentrate on definite languages and software which are very well-liked. There is not majority of hosts offering Java Servlets, Postgresql, and Zope. If one takes the example of only Zope hosting then it definitely escort all the Zope developers to apply and as well as propose the Zope community a web hosting provider who is specialized in field of Zope hosting.

Everyone knows that price of broadband had declined by the time, it also created a ray of optimism in the mind of web hosts that due to this the market of application hosting also gets popularity. One can find new market of large and small corporate who never thinks badly in keeping their data in secure networks. All requires is to log into their servers and access their data from any part of the globe. They search for the applications like Compiere or rather a groupware where user can easily access, share and pile up the data online. If there will be a requirement for paying premium for such services the Corporate would never mind. But, web hosts have to promise protection and dependability in such situations.

Merging some of the additional features in the offered package will definitely attract the customers to that hosting provider. It can include few of the software’s also.

One can put forward hosting services along with a post nuke, gallery and phpBB forum all packaged into one. Due to this the customer will receive both opportunity and time to concentrate on what he/she requires to do instead of wasting time on thinking the way to implement a CMS system or picture gallery.

There are many sites offering software such as ikonboard, eZpublish, phpShop, Zope, A-Cart etc along with their hosting package. After selecting the ideal one as per requirement user can create scripts to automate the process of installation. Thus, one can save the time wasting on ordering new things.

At the end, user needs not to take any step like investing a huge amount of money for the purpose of advertising with search engines or rather with web hosting directories. All requires is to advertise on the elected software’s home page and remain present on their forums/mailing lists to assist the client.

When the internet was unleashed to average consumers in the late 90s, I never dreamed it would become so incredibly popular – especially to the point where it has literally become the crunch I physically depend on. Over a decade later, I’m sure we can all agree that millions of people can’t imagine life without it. Its no secret, the internet offers numerous benefits. From communicating and shopping to conducting serious business online, this super network provides the medium. Because of the internet, everyone can have a website of their own and showcase it to visitors from Los Angeles to Australia. So how much does it cost to stake your claim in cyberspace? Not much at all, especially when opting for a shared hosting account.
What is Shared Hosting?
There are many types of web hosting to choose from and shared hosting is the most popular variation. As the name implies, shared hosting is an environment where you lease space on a server and share with other users. Aside from space, you also share resources such as CPU, RAM and bandwidth. With this type of setup, the web hosting customers are essentially paying for the server and its associated resources, allowing providers to offer service at a substantially lower price.
How Much Does Shared Hosting Cost?
Shared hosting is very cost-efficient, which is the main reason why it’s so popular and the preferred choice for those new to the web hosting realm. So how affordable is it? Well, since web hosting is such a competitive industry, there are literally providers at every corner of the web, each trying to outdo one another and offer you the lowest price. These days, you can easily find a web hosting plan from $5 to $10 per month – possibly even lower. Take WebHostingPad for example. This company offers hosting starting from $3.96 per month, which is hands down one of the best deals around in terms of price.
What are the Benefits of Shared Hosting?
Shared hosting offers many more perks apart from availability and a low price. It also offers tons of features combined with a level of simplicity and power that suits the veteran and novice webmaster alike. The advancements in web hosting technology have introduced comprehensive control panels and an array of management tools that simplify the process of building and administering your website. With the backing of a good web hosting company, you can create a professional website with little to no designing experience.
Best of all, shared hosting makes an ideal solution for small business. Features such as multiple email accounts, shopping cart software and easy PayPal integration allow you to open up an online storefront and sell your own products or services. Considering that there are millions of people surfing the web every minute of any given day, the potential is unlimited.
Where Can I Find Shared Hosting?
You can find shared hosting by doing a simple Google or Yahoo! search on the web. Simply type the words “shared hosting” into a Google or Yahoo! search engine and you will literally see hundreds if not thousands of relevant results. To get the best possible service, I recommend that you read a few web hosting reviews on a few companies. The feedback you get from other customers will give you an idea of what’s available and what to expect from a particular web host.

After creating and designing one’s own website he/she wants to host his/her own website other wise all the hard work will go in vain. Deciding the host for the website is far more difficult job then creating and designing it. While choosing host one should be very careful and should gain proper knowledge. One should consider all the factors while opting one host, as if this one decision went wrong then all the previous work will ruin.

Following are the few factors to be consider while choosing hosting plan-

1. Uptime of the web server?

2. Does the SSL is provided by the server or not?

3. Does the server avail server side scripting (e.g. PHP, ASP)?

4. What type of host to choose Free or paid?

5. What is the upload limit and file limit?

6. Support provided to the Customer.

Now we are going to take the above factors one by one:-

1– Uptime of the web server.

While hosting one’s website he/she wants that his/her server should always be up, as if website faces downtime it will result in the loss of traffic as well as of goodwill. The customer will never visit a website which remains down most of the hours so it is very important to choose host which provides maximum uptime.

Search engines will never give position to the website that always faces the downtime.

These kinds of websites should not expect the traffic from the search engines.

One can get a web server that is usually up, by the help of the reviews of the different persons who have already used the web host.

2. Does the SSL provided by the server or not?

If one created his/her own website just for the personnel use, not for doing any transactions on his/her website then SSL protection is not required.

If one who is not doing any transactions right now, but planning to do it in the future then he /she should opt for a web host that will provide SSL protection as and when required.

SSL is an encryption method which helps to encrypt any sensitive information like credit card info, names, etc

If a customer is going for a web host who is not offering SSL protection, in that case, installation of SSL will be very expensive as if afterwards he/she is trying to get it installed then the provider can charge what ever he/she wants for the SSL protection for transactions.

3. The third factor to look at it is does the server avail for server side scripting?

There are many web host providers who provides for server side scripting but still it’s important for customers to make sure that they do or don’t.

Server side scripting permits the webmaster to create pages which changes in real time.

For example, if one is running a business, and has all of his/her products stored in a database, and then a server side script will be helpful as it generates the pages that the customer sees according to the category/product he/she chooses.

If any of the web host provider is not providing the service of server side scripting, then it means that it will be a very silly decision to choose that web hosting.

4. What type of host to choose free or paid?

Now here comes the most important factor i.e. money factor which molds the customer’s decision. It’s hard for customers to decide that what to choose –free or paid host.

In case of free host, it has one and only one advantage that it is free, rest it has only and only complications in it.

The one who is not going to do any transitions by his/her site or created his/her website only as a hobby, then any of the free host will be ok for him. On the other hand for a professional customer, it will be good for him/her to not to look at for free hosting rather choosing for a paid host. Choosing free hosting will be of no use as it will never facilitate it’s customer due to lack of facilities in it.

Free web hosting has many disadvantages such as the hosters usually run ads on one’s home page.

The paid web host usually offers better customer support that is absent in free web hosting.

5. What is the upload/bandwidth limit and file limit?

If any customer is going for hosting large image files or if he/she wants to provide downloads to his/her users then upload/ bandwidth and file limit is very important.

But if anyone is making a hobby or business website then space is not a big deal for him/her and he/she can opt the host providing less space.

6. Customer Support

Now let’s talk about the Customer support which is very important. If any customer is suffering from any problem and he/she is not getting any support from his/her host then he/she will get irritate and leave the host. If any of the hosting company don’t want to loose his customers then it is important for the company to provide proper customer support and of course when ever needed.

Some web host providers even provide forums where customers like they can log in and post questions to other customers and web host staff.

Selection of an ideal business web site hosting is must before user should conclude any strategy of proposing goods and services for sale on his/her business web site, one has to judge about an ideal business web site hosting. One can receive several services and options regarding business web site hosting.

If one considers about business web site hosting then there are three forms of alternatives available in front of him/her:

1. Dedicated Server,

2. Virtual Hosting and

3. Co-location.

One can ask a question to him/her self, “what way can I receive an ideal business web site hosting?”

While searching for a business web site hosting one will come across through several ads and links that declares several great choices for his/her business. These options ranges from free to cheap web hosting and to expensive business web site hosting as well. It is superlative to stay vigil, analyzing all the necessary requirements by the user and try to overlook all forms of propaganda.

Solutions to few basic queries which user needs to keep in mind are, “Which is preferable server? What type of business is it going to have? Does one’s business is going to have a simple business site or rather a complex Ecommerce site?” One can get reply to all these queries after analyzing business web site hosting.

If one talks about a Dedicated Server business web site hosting then in this kind of hosting service one can rent the complete server. For the webmasters lacking startup capitol this can be proved to be a smart alternative. When one talk about a Dedicated Server hosting user can enjoy an ample amount of disk space and file transfer capacity. One can get rapid connectivity because there is presence of only one business site on the Dedicated Server. If one talks about the majority of cases, the user will enjoy outstanding service as per his/her requirement. The drawback is that, one has to pay extra amount as compare to Virtual Hosting and not get the command, which one can enjoy from Co-location business web site hosting.

On a Virtual Hosting business web site hosting one has to rent space place on comparatively larger server and need to share the server with several number of other web sites. Such sort of business web site hosting is quite reasonable and possesses several features and alternatives, which can be adapted by any of the business web site. However, the only prime drawback is that one has to counter downtime; which may harm the accounts of sales and visitors. Sales are quite crucial with business web site hosting. Due to this reason only one should go for hosting service for his/her business web hosting which is best as far as possible.

While discussing about Co-location business web site hosting one will conclude that it is a hosting service that uses user’s server equipment placed in a secure state of the art facility in another location. The supreme benefit of Co-location business web site hosting is that the user will get full command over dependability and data transfer accuracy of his/her web site. Overcoming the quality of Co-location business web site hosting is a daunting task, however, for a beginner in business web site it can be a pricey option. Price doesn’t matters when one gets the best output; this applies with Co-location business web site hosting.

One can get Business web site hosting services with several alternatives in the market. One should patiently compare all and should select the best suitable option as his/her requirement.

A carrier hotel or a collocation center is a form of data center, wherein multiple customers locate storage gear, server and local network and then, interlink them to a variety of other network service providers and telecommunications with a minimum of complexity and cost. Organizations are increasingly recognizing the advantages of collocating the mission-critical equipment within the data centre. As a result of using shared data centre infrastructure, collocation is becoming increasingly popular by the day. Typically, substantial scale benefits lead to large facilities for collocation, in the range of 4500 to 9500 square meters. With the communication and IT facilities in secure and safe hands, ASP, content providers, enterprises and internet get to enjoy lesser latency and more freedom for focusing on the core business.

More about Colocation Web Hosting:

Major forms of collocation firms are telecommunication companies, who utilize such facilities in order to interchange the traffic with other telecom companies. Also included are major enterprises who utilize the facility for business continuity, offsite data backup and disaster avoidance. Besides, web commerce firms utilize such facilities for redundant and cost-effective internet connections and a safe environment.

Most centers of collocation have high physical security levels. They may either be secured with closed-circuit television camera or may be guarded 24 x 7.

There are some collocation facilities, which permit the employees to escort customers, especially if there are no cabinets or individual locked cages for every customer. There are some collocation facilities in which, it is required that employees escort their customers.

Managing a web server is in reality not a child’s play as it is a full time job, where one must constantly monitor its performance and security and it sounds, it is really exhausting task, especially if one is already having other responsibilities. There are several advantages like one no longer have to wait for technical support or approval to install a script onto the server. In addition, one can have as many websites and databases he/she requires but condition is, as long as his/her hardware can handle it. One no longer has to go into the discussion forums and search for the best web host. Over all one can even begin hosting family & friends personal websites. Thus after looking at these advantages it really sounds interesting. Isn’t? But wait just read more.

One should ask him/her self, how technically advanced he/she is? Quite often one needs not to be fully learned, but it’s necessary that he/she is possessing resources. One must know how to resolve issues and how to handle problems and that too quite quickly and efficiently. Thus it means it needs to be in real meaning Internet savvy. In this case just surfing wont help as one who surfs aimlessly wont be of any use, rather one who can always find what he/she is looking for is the right person. This is a main requirement, as with any server environment, one is going to run into problems and finding the answers are most consummate online, using multiple resources, search techniques, and engines. Now if one is sure that he/she can hire someone to fix one’s problems then too it’s not at all considered a best option to get done from anyone else. In next paragraph is the test to see if one is ready to find solutions. Requirement is of a solution to a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Event Error – “Event ID: 1056” it’s a DHCP Server Error. Now how one would search for this?

In order to find the solution the first that one would take is to go to Google which can be seen as a good and a common effort also it is a good place to start, but usually it is best to start at the developers’ website. Thus in this case “microsoft.com” would have been the first option because Google would more than likely provide with the solution from Microsoft and other sources, but if one is not interested in getting inaccurate information from other sources, then surely he/she should choose going to Microsoft directly. It is a common practice to get information from Microsoft that not only helps resolving one’s problem, but also helps saving time. Now again one should search the error and should go to the Microsoft site and find the solution.

After going this one will find this link-http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx? Scid=KB; en-us; 282001 (Event ID 1056 is Logged after installing DHCP)

Now after seeing the above what search phrase should one use? The answer is Event ID: 1056, because the Event ID is the correct and most exact error; it helps in providing the exact solution for one’s problem without broadening the search. Sometimes it may happen that the error description is also appropriate to search, just the error description by itself or in combination with the Event ID. It all depends on one’s error, his/her search feedback, his/her ability, and last but not least technique. For the above discussed example error description is not included.

Now after Microsoft, the second option one should take is Google or Yahoo, which are considered as two largest search engines. Thereafter one should search other smaller and niche search engines and then the next one should search within forums and discussion groups. If one is well known of Internet and have a plentiful or few forums and discussion groups, which he/she uses quite frequently, then he/she should visit those places before visiting Google or Yahoo. One can also visit those before visiting the developer site since it is a trusted source, but its not very recommendable as going first to developers’ site would be considered as a best option. So now after knowing little about search engines and internet one can think of purchasing a server.

If one is a Webmaster of many sites. If one is in a profession to design sites for the clients. If one’s business require more than one site. Is a web host reseller account for him/her?

1. Persons or business with additional website

If one is having more than one website and the overall disk capacity needed by one is 500 MB or more, one can take advantage by possessing a reseller account. If one has individual accounts for each site then the cost for web hosting is inferior to the nominal rates. Also, the disk space and bandwidth allocations for each site can be easily altered by anyone.

2. Associated service providers

For people who provide associate services, for them a reseller account is quite useful. If one is a web designer, for example, why impede at designing sites? The web hosting service must be provided by one under his/her company’s name and one continues to earn revenue from his/her web design clients.

Let’s say $40 is paid for a 3-GB seller account by someone. If he/she offers 30 100-MB packages at $7 per month, he/she could earn up to $170 a month (after subtracting ones cost) from that reseller account. Search engine optimization and website maintenance must be adjoined, and one’s revenue again reaches to the top.

Just like oneself many resellers are in the field of entrepreneurship. Most started their Web services from graze or as a set off to other businesses.

An all round self-skilled web site is the need of the hour for many people. Today the root businesses of many companies are on the shoulders of those sites, which have interactive quality to get a mob of people and can produce the business. Automated features can also play a âbehind the scenesâ role, by generating the qualities in oneâs site like making it easy to use, smooth running and promoting online sales and password protection.

There are several ways by which one can generate such type of automation in his/her site, but all the processes engage either client side or server side scripting. There are several programming languages present specially designed for the web; such programming languages are used for writing scripts. Generally, customer side scripts are written in one of the best web programming languages i.e., Java. But some functions are to be accomplished through the scripting on server side; however, frequently used programming languages on this side are PHP, PERL, and CGI. PHP and PERL are fresher and are on every mouth in the market but one canât ignore the mother of all web-scripting languages, CGI due to availability of features suitable to it.

Shopping Carts

No one can say that the online sales site is complete without a functioning shopping cart and generally best among them have been written in CGI script. CGI web hosting is ideal for shopping cart scripts because of itâs better interaction with majority of databases, which includes popular MYSQL and MS Access databases, it can be applied with simplicity of similar range on the servers like Windows, UNIX, LINUX, and MACOS, thus simply configured for sales tax and shipping cost calculations. In the market, PHP and PERL are used to apply on the newer shopping cart scripts, but the first choice still prevailing is the use of good old CGI web hosting scripts.

Password Shielding

There are several sites, which require some sort of registration and entry of a password for the user to enter the siteâs features. One should need to do it due to the boundations of several reasons like simply a desire to pathway visitors for marketing reasons, like to allow postings on message boards and ensuring that users have paid any required fees associated with use of the site. One should apply the CGI scripts for the automated registration process and in the process of issuing user name/password and generally it is done in this manner only.

Form Managers

There are several people who donât know about how the forms, they fill out online are handled. They must know that such forms are handled by CGI webhosting. When a user fills in that form and hits the âsubmitâ button, a CGI script takes over and sends the contained data via Email or writes it to a database where the siteâs administrator is able to access it later on.

Thus the above mentioned are some of the uses of the uses for CGI scripts on todayâs web sites. Like these there are many more and if there is possibility for doing anything on the website, surely it can be done with CGI. PHP and PERL are gaining popularity due to any reasons, but CGI was the one since beginning with the user and is even not going anywhere. So as long as there are web sites, CGI web hosting will remain the Jack of all trade.

After knowing shared hosting no longer cuts it, and one’s single office connection is not enough to host a web server – now an important question which arises is which is best, leasing a dedicated server or buying own server and co-locating someone’s data center?

Distinction

If one is unsure of the difference; here it is in a nutshell. If one co-locates, it simply means renting space within someone else’s facility to store his/her own server or servers. It is very much similar to a high tech gym locker that user is renting all or part of to house his/her servers. The user either ship or deliver the server to his/her provider. Additional services that are provided by the host along with co-location differ from individual to individual host but it surely will not include the actual server. With a dedicated server the user will get all the features of co-location, as well as, the actual web server itself.

Which is superior?

Between web hosting and co-location webhosting, the best would be which is best suited for one’s need. Comparing both we will find that there are excellent situations for both the dedicated server option is quickly becoming a better choice in more and more cases. If one already possesses a web server, or prefers to use cluster, then obviously co-location possibly will be the user’s ideal choice. If the user is bearing in mind buying new equipment and shipping it off for co-location, he/she should reassess. One should know that, the prices and equipment existing in dedicated hosting currently are outstanding, not only this but it will relieve the user from the burden of hardware. Most hosts prefer to carry suitable spare parts on hand according to the servers used, so that quick action can be taken if any undesirable thing happens. Depending on one’s arrangement with a collocation deal hardware failure could simply mean paying extra to have a server shipped back, having it fixed by oneself rather then sending it back to the data center.

Is one disgusted or disappointed with present web host? Have one switched over to several web hosting companies too many times? Have one ever thought of hosting one’s own website(s)? Do one is having the ambition to control and manage his/her own web server?

If the answer of above all the questions is yes, then it can be said that one is in a position to host his/her own sites. This article will help one to switch to another host easily.

One can be his/her own web host if he/she is technically inclined and have basic knowledge of operating systems, is able to understand technical terms, is able to understand how to setup a server environment (such as: DNS, IIS, Apache, etc.), is possessing basic knowledge of scripting languages and databases (PHP, Perl, MySQL, etc.), is familiar with current technologies, and have a basic understanding of hardware and server components.

However just like anything else there too are some pros & cons as saying is actually quite difficult from doing.

The one side (Pros): -

It carries own sense of responsibility

Due to it awareness level gets raised (one is at the frontline of all server happenings)

Escape from monthly hosting fees/accounts

Eradication of incompetence

Advantage of dedicated server

No limits of websites, databases, content, storage, etc.

Unlimited bandwidth

Saving of time as no more waiting on someone else time

Last but not least complete control

The other side (Cons): –

Much exhausting at times

Problems of server/hardware

Monthly business/broadband expense i.e. ISP business account

In case server goes down, the website is also offline.

No help from technical support team

other expenses in form of Software, hardware, and network

Thus, just like some mentioned above pros and cons there can be many more.

The one who is working on a website must be well aware about the checklist discussed below. The word website cannot be completed without the domain, hosting (web space) and web designing. There are countless companies offering this facility. Thus one must act prudently while dealing with any of these companies.

The following are the most common problems faced by most of the clients and can be even seen on the net such as –

User complain- every day, I get few phone calls of this sort:

Sir, My domain expires in next few days, but the company which registered it is out of business, Please RENEW it”

Sir, I want to transfer the domain to your server but I don’t have the domain control panel”

Dear Support Team, The domain is registered thru ‘X’ and his name is listed as REGISTRANT and Admin Contact, help me”

I have a website since 1998 but I am not getting any enquiries thru it. So what’s the point in having it renewed? “

My website is down most of the time, can you do anything on it? “

So above are the problems faced by most or let say by all the users? Thus the below checklist is required to deal with such problem-

Checklist for Domain NAME Registration

After getting registration of domain one must check the following things-

Is the registration of DOMAIN NAME is with an ICANN Accredited Registrar? Does the REGISTRANT NAME and ADMINSTRATIVE CONTACT is showing one’s name/email?

Is there Control Panel available with the Domain Registration Service Provider with username / password to manage/modify name servers & contact details in real-time?

Is there any facility to get reminders at the time of renewals in advance?

Checklist for Web Hosting (Web space)

Support is the most crucial point in case of hosting. One must check the response time in advance before selecting a service provider.

One must check the technical skills by putting few queries and watching their responses.

One must go though the Service Provider Website and make sure its professional looking with user-friendly navigation and layout.

One must check if they are having TESTIMONIALS listed, availability of listing of sites hosted with them, facility of discount for bulk purchases and payment modes.

One must be careful for the hidden charges as well and now above all one must check for the Bandwidth offered with the hosting plan.

The facility for Multiple Domains in single hosting space should be asked if not provided.

One must act carefully before selecting any hosting plan. One must check for availability of all the essential features like POP3 mails, SMTP support, FTP Account, Control Panel, Web mail, Spam Controller, Antivirus, and Web Statistics.

Checklist for Website Design

Is the website designer providing free minor updates or for a nominal fee on a yearly contract basis?

Is the look of the website professional and appealing to the global audience?

Check out for the listing of website in any of the search engine. To check one must put the website name on www.google.com. Does it show up anywhere in the results?

Does the website designer provides with monitoring service?

Does the website taking too much time to load. One must make care that it loads faster even on slow connections. One must keep in mind that success of website do not depends on Flashy animations, bigger size jpegs etc but on the Content. So stress on content of the website.

The most important and difficult decision one has to make while starting an online business is to opt for the host plan, which meets the requirements and is within oneâs budget. One can take the help of the search engines for searching the best plan. There are number of web hosting providers offering great packages. It is very difficult to choose best one among them

It is good to write down all the requirements by the customers and then choosing the package suiting oneâs requirements and then only the chosen package will have its worth.

Following are the few aspects to be considered when choosing a web host.
Disk Space

It is very important to know how much space will be required and this can be done only after knowing that what kind of business one is running? Is he selling a single product? Showcasing a huge catalogue with lots of pictures? Or, maybe a membership website? Different types of businesses use different amounts of disk space. After he will require knowing all these information one can easily calculate how much space and then he can easily choose the package accordingly. This is very right that no one wants to pay extra for the space he would never use.

Data Transfer

Many hosting plans put a limit on the amount of data one can transfer. Data transfer is the amount of traffic flow from oneâs site that includes images, banners, and file downloads, etc. If the user crosses the limit he have to pay extra for it, which results to be very expensive. At this point he will realize the worth of pre study of the requirements. Now he needs to do some homework i.e. to know what is the size of his page? Does he expect to have a lot of visitors? Does it involve transferring many files? If he does, then he surely needs a plan permitting plenty of data transfer.

Email Accounts

Now one should know how many email accounts will he need? One for his personal use and one for support, enquiries, sales etc. One should also have to consider which email package he will need, full Pops access, Web-based email or both?

Up-Time Guarantee

It will be favorable for the user not to accept anything less than 99.5% of uptime. Server downtime is like having a shop without electricity; In this case visitors will not be able to visit oneâs site, and thus as a result it would lead to destruction of oneâs sale and thereafter-entire business.

Support

User should be very sure while choosing a web host that it will provide excellent support. User can any time face the difficulty, so it is very necessary to choose one that can reply within 48 hours.

Tools and control panel

User should opt the host that provides a good control panel that is user friendly. This is very true that no one wants to waste time sending support tickets asking technical questions and waiting hours for a reply, right? Thus one should look out for tools like traffic monitors, statistics, web mail, file manager, etc.

Testimonials

User should give importance to what others are saying. Email those people to find out about server uptime and other features of the web host he is planning to use. However one needs to be very careful as some people complain more than praising one.

Price

One should always keep in mind that what one pay, is what he gets. If he gets it too cheap, chances are that the cost is cutting somewhere else. This can also happen that they are going to charge for additional services later on. So be careful!

Transferring of website to a new web host will become easy by following the below mentioned steps-

First Off:

User should always act carefully while opting new web host. One should not act manic after seeing any cheap hosting plan, rather should carefully check the plan and be aware of the terms and conditions for finding out the hidden tricks or hidden fees. One should define clearly his/her and must choose the plan which is very close to his/her requirement. Also one must look for 24/7 supports with phone support, as it is a must. Always one should try to find a host that uses the same operating system as his/her existing host. Last but not least one must chose a web host that has a fast Internet connection and has fast servers and good up time etc.

Scripts:

One must confirm that the new web host supports the same script that one is using like if one is using php, CGI, Perl or ASP that he/she must choose that host that supports it. For php one must check that the new hosts supports all the php functions required and also have all the Perl Modules that one need to use or plan on using. There are many scripts that require Mysql, so one must check to see if the new host supports that as well.

Backup:

Backup should be done on a regular basis .One must make sure to take backup of each and everything on his/her site as else at any time that data can be lost. Also one must take care to save all of his/her site’s files on a disc or one can choose to signup for a data storage service and they will save it for him/her.

Testing:

One should be very sure that his/her site is functioning before switching to new host. It is always beneficial that the new site should be tested by anyone else. One can also use more than one computer if they are available and can take the help of someone else to have a look on it. It is always advisable to test everything from links to images three or four times to make sure things are working properly.

After getting everything done its time to switch to a new host however one must be very careful for the next 48 hours to check his/her site as quite often any problem can occur in the site. If all the above things are kept in mind the site can go live soon with ease.

A web host reseller account is a web hosting account that allows one to generate hosting packages to sell to his/her clients. Not only that one can also host his/her multiple sites using the disk space allotted to the single hosting account.

Features:

Web host reseller accounts normally come with a reseller-level control panel that allows one to create packages of his/her choice.

One can also assign disk space and bandwidth to each site on the account and can change the space and bandwidth specifications, in case it is required by the site for any modification or change.

Generally reseller accounts provide the option for private nameservers also known as private label, personalized nameservers, or virtual name servers. Example, if one’s reseller account is with Some Name Hosting and his/her company’s name is let say Name Services; now in that case one’s clients will enter ns1.examplename.com and ns2.examplename.com for the nameservers for his/her domains.

It’s easy to handle account setup, billing and support for one’s client using a web host reseller account. Usually one’s web host provider maintains the servers and answers support questions.

Talking about size a few starter reseller hosting packages are as small as just 500 MB, while other reseller providers offer packages starting at 1 GB or even larger. Not only that a wide range of packages is also available, with few going as high as 30 GB of disk space.

In the present scenario there is a rush of web hosting companies, and it is stiff to find out the reliable one. There are many strategies one may use to promote his/her company.

The best ways are given below through which one can easily endorse his/her web hosting business. All top 3 methodologies, as given below can be used for any kind of business, not only for a web hosting company. Here there are:

1. Referral Program

It is an ideal way to interact with the new customers. One can modify the setup of the system to show his/her current customers in the mask of new customers. The facility of a special tracking id is possessed by the customer, by giving it; he/she can consult with anybody whenever necessary. This way, the customer receives a reward for the utilization of his/her id. It is too recommended that one should submit his/her customer an account where he/she can do the verification of figures of his/her campaign. One should sign up the user to the referral program so that they can start bringing more users to the site. One

Can use some ready made soft wares available on the web for the accomplishment of management and tracking mentioned at the top.

2. Recommendations or mouth publicity

It is quite similar to recommendable program, but the variation lies only in the fact that in this case the user does not get any form of reward on bringing new users. However, still it is a good route to promote oneâs web hosting service. The customer satisfaction is the key thing which will bring more of the users, because only satisfied customer will tell positive views to other people, providing benefit to the host provider .Thus in other words one can say that, a happy customer is the root cause of a business to flourish.

The service host can ask a satisfied customer to submit a testimonial containing the praising views of the customer in respect to the hosting company.

3. Linking to Forum Discussions

There are several good forums, which include web hosting as a topic of discussion. One should join such forums and must share his/her views without forgetting to keep his/her signature along with URL below his/her designation. One can place along with the signature his/her unique weekly or monthly offers.

So, helping others on this kind of forums can send new customers on oneâs website, straightly meaning more business for oneâs web hosting business. However one should not just rely on any oneâs advice rather should go there to post and ad, should become an active member and should also became part of the forum’s community.

Mentioned above are the first three routes which one should use to bring boom in his/her business. Using them will give sure results.

Now after advantages the biggest disadvantage of hosting on own web server is the uptime reliability. If one’s web server get powered down for any reason then his/her website will also get offline. Generally webhosting companies have methods and networks to prevent this failure from affecting one’s website. Also if the system goes down they have a mirror location where one’s site is invigorated and doesn’t experience much downtime. There are several web hosts, which do not practice this method, or any other fault tolerance. One can imagine how worse can happen if a blackout or power outage occurs and his/her web server gets down for hours or even days. It will surely lead to destruction of whole business. There are several hosting companies providing mirror web hosting for a small charge, but there is doubt in their reliability. Thus only experience can make one play safe in hosting business else its all on his/her fortune or God.

Hosting one’s own server is not at all a money-saving experience as sometimes it even costs more to host on one’s own server, when one totals the up keep and maintenance. Thus the benefit of hosting one’s own server is usually a better platform for one’s customers, because it is no longer a shared server and it provides the ability to make global changes almost immediately. In case one’s customers are requesting for more performance or specific applications, then he/she will be able to apply this immediately. Customers generally like to know that one is in control. If one informs his/her customers that the server will be down for maintenance from 6 a.m. – 7 a.m. then it would be considered best only if one’s server is down, not from 5 a.m. – 10 a.m. It’s better to know some explanations or excuses in advance as one needs to give explanation to his/her customers in such a situation. Thus as a conclusion it can be concluded that it will benefit one to host his/her own web server as a web business, this helps him/her and his/her customers.

It’s attractive. There are several companies offering cheap services full with amazing post-futuristic techno-gizmo features. But does it helps in saving much money?

Answer is no, not at all as the maximum saving would be in some dollars only. If one is running a business site, saving $5, $10 or even $15 per month is not considered a big saving. There is not a single company whose survival is dependant upon 15 dollars but if the wrong web host is chosen by mistake then surely it can destroy the business.

Given below are 3 main reasons to ignore price issue while selecting web host: -

1. Usability. Confession time: Besides other issues usability holds an important place while selecting a new web host. Especially for a beginner it is important to have at least good control panel. There are example where one in the beginning opted for cheap web hosting and there after faced the problem of operating the control panel and often found him/her self traveling in circles trying to enter it.

Thus if one consider this factor of usability and just know little bit of CGI can easily manage his/her emails and can edit html files right on the server. What more is required for a beginner who was earlier not even able to find files on the previous host’s server?

2. Service. Second factor to consider is service. There are cases where in the beginning users were quite happy with their cheap web host as were even getting all the responses via email on time. Problem occurred when some guy with a chip on his shoulder filed a phony Spam complaint. Now the response was suddenly missing from the host when complaint was made. Infact no one was interested in speaking over phone. The remedy came when the user’s ISP responded to the same phony complaint immediately, sharing with user a copy and giving a chance to deal with it. Thus it is again recommendable to pay more but one must look for this feature.

3. Reliability. One must also look for the good uptime and should also check for reliability. There are many problems that occur when one ignores this factor like a form not functioning thereby resulting in lost sales. More worse is that Google comes crawling just when site is down and search engines don’t like sending people to unreliable sites.

Thus it can be concluded easily that paying little more is better than paying a lot more in lost sales and increased stress. One should keep in mind that his/her whole business is dependant upon website and so one must consider all the factors not just price while selecting a new web host.

Everything seems so confusing when one makes a start to acquire a site on internet.

The obtuse acronyms and definitions that flow freely through the ‘Beginner Friendly’ information sites may at times become hard to come across. The principal reason behind this is the Internet and also the simplicity of the process of getting a website online, and people hardly think of the difficulty they once had after getting past the first stumbling steps, as a result of which they are unable to understand the next wave of dot com newbie’s

So we begin by defining some of the basic terms that are seen commonly when we start looking for a web host. One will promptly realize that computer geeks are fond of using big words for simple concepts. What else can one expect from a group of people who decided to quote half a Byte as a Nibble?

Web Host: These are the people who provide a website which can be accessed .These people are a good treasure of information, it proves to be quite worthy to get ones queries answered by contacting their tech support. This fact makes it important to contact them BEFORE one sign’s up for any packages to guarantee reception of a timely response. One can try sending an email their way and see the outcome.

Disk Space: This is equivalent to the space on ones own PC’s hard drive. Web Hosts usually assign a definite amount of space to ones website, usually in Megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). It helps in finding out how much one can store on ones site.

Bandwidth: The quantity of data that can be retrieved from ones site within the bandwidth period is termed as Bandwidth .The bandwidth period is the measure of the duration of time before ones bandwidth gets reset once again, which is usually about a month. Bandwidth is also measured in MB and GB, similar to disk space. Before purchasing a hosting package it is always advisable to find out the effects of exceeding ones allocated bandwidth.

Domain Name: Everyone identified by a domain name on the Internet. One has to type the domain name into a web browser’s address bar to reach ones site. It depends whether ones hosting company offers a domain for free, or it has the facilities to provide a domain for a minimal cost.

SQL (MySQL, SQL Server etc.): Structured Query Language. Interaction with the databases is done using SQL.Chances are that when one start looking for webhosting one have no knowledge of SQL, and have no need of knowing it for at least a little while longer.

HTTP: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. Basically, how the Internet works. The protocol that administers the transfer of web pages from one place to another is HTTP.

HTML: Hyper Text Markup Language. This is (usually) used directly or indirectly when one makes his own website. Don’t get afraid by the name, the ‘language’ is very easy to learn.

FTP: File Transfer Protocol. It is a protocol used for transferring pages and files from ones home PC to a server. It is easy to use and if ones host uses this method for file access it will provide the login information. FTP can be used by typing “FTP://” into My Computer on a windows box and it helps to access ones server as if it were a regular windows folder.

POP3: This is a common email ‘post box’ system. It is use to store emails for retrieval.

SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is a common protocol used to send emails.

A beginner does not need to know too much about the above two email technologies. If they’re listed, well. It implies one have email account with ones own website (i.e. the email name@yourdomain.com will reach him/her somehow)

Java, Perl, ASP, .NET, PHP are some of the languages used to enhance websites. A started should try learning HTML first before worrying to learn about these advanced languages. Generally they’re not too difficult to learn, but one will want a strong basing before tackling them.

The Internet is a wonderful source of knowledge, so whenever one wants information just fire up the favorite search engine and type in the problem. The Internet is full of sites about the Internet, so the information one want shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Building professional websites takes a lot of time and skill, so many companies hire people to do it for them. If this is the situation that one is in, talk to the designer he/she is hiring about hosting, as they may have struck a deal with a webhost to provide clients with cheaper hosting packages. Also, the professional designer will know what features one is going to need in a hosting plan.

The world of webhosting is not as complex as people assume it to be. One has to make sure that a little bit of research is necessary before diving in and then there will be less chances of one getting burned by a shifty ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ company. Check out the host’s rankings on a few Web Hosting Directories, do a search for reviews of the company, contact the support staff before signing up and enjoy the world opened by having ones own online presence.

Many people heard saying “Penny-wise and Dollar-foolish”?

Choosing cheapest web hosting is not a good deal. If the user will only consider the money factor then he will have to regret later on as he will not get all the required facilities and the package he has chosen will then prove havoc.

If any user launches his website earlier in the “dark ages” of 1997 at that time he was charged $150 per month for hosting and data transfer charges. Then his web host keeps a close eye like an eagle over the number of files he uploads and always sends their heavily built invoices earlier with each passing month.

This is the claim not by just one person but by many people. Then suddenly a whole industry of “bargain” web hosts sprang up all over the web.

At that time cheap web hosting providers grows very rapidly as users welcome them very cheerfully. Now one can easily get the hosting facility by just spending $4.95 per month, as against $150 per month that he was paying for the same service earlier.

Just 5 bucks per month sounds really very interesting, until one realizes the amount of data transfer (number of page views) and bandwidth (the amount of data transfer his host allows in a 24 hour period) he gets for that cheap price harshly confines his capacity to do business.

This recognition – As soon as one recognized this fact as well as after understanding how data transfer and bandwidth gets calculated, one tends to recognize the disadvantages that he was suffering due to cheap price.

If any user exceeds the bandwidth limit allotted, then his bargain host will just shut down his site without any warning or else will send a huge bill.

Later on the webmasters who are truly professional realize that they’ve made a mistake by selecting a cheap host as their site suddenly gets shut down in the middle of a big promotion because of huge traffic. At that moment as one’s business is totally dependant on web site it seems like as if his whole business stops moving.

There are some cheap hosts providing good service, but one has to take utmost care and caution especially in the matter of bandwidth as it effects a lot afterwards when one’s business grows.

By just paying $24.95 per month one can get to host up to six independent websites with a single account. One gets unlimited data storage, unlimited email and a variety of other higher end services, but their bandwidth policy seems really hard to understand. So one should think again while hosting a bargain web host.

Choosing one of the best web-hosting providers among countless number of providers is the toughest job. The one who is going to opt for any of the provider should have proper knowledge of his/her requirements. There are several points which one should take care while searching for a web host. First of the entire customer should list down all the requirements and then search the hosting provider according to it. Finally when one of the providers is selected by the user after proper research it is but obvious that the provider chosen is definitely having some extra ordinary qualities in comparison to other providers.

This is well known that due to tough competition where all providers become very smart in presenting themselves, it is very difficult for the customers to choose one of them for their business. The only help line left with the customers is “knowledge”, as by knowledge only the customers are able to decide for what factors to be considered while making decision. It is important for customer to gain knowledge but the point is how and from where to acquire knowledge.

In service sector knowledge plays very crucial role such as the knowledge of the technologies behind the service, knowledge about the folks behind the service, knowledge of the customer service, knowledge of scaling of quality of the hosting available and many more things to be listed.

The very first step taken by most of the customers is to create a budget boundaries for the hosting service, but the professional users who knows the worth of reliable hosting will place the monetary factor not on the top but some where in the middle on his total considerable factor’s list. Rather it is considered important even before one acquires knowledge of the factors to be considered.

Now lets look at one example, if the budget which one has allocated is less then 100$ then he/she ignore terms like dedicated servers collocation, etc. however more the budget more are there chances to learn.

There are many sources to acquire knowledge, the first and foremost source is to read more articles as articles shows the complete picture, more reading means more knowledge .One more advantage of this means is that it is the cheapest mean to acquire knowledge. The topic once chosen to read is based on the budget. Budgeting is not just about money but also about time. One should read the topic according to his/her requirements and should consider the sources correctly.

One very crucial point the customer should keep in his/her mind is that he/she should always go for the right source of information ,so as to choose a good hosting provider. Customer should also have answers of some particular questions such as is he/she knows the meaning of five nine’s and its need for the business. Does customer want PHP technology for his/her web site? Will the customer give preference to a dynamic and faster website over a reliable standard search friendly simple web site?

When customer visits each of the providers then all of them will try their level best to sell their huge plan that contains the features that are never required.

Let’s look at another example; the factor that makes the hosting provider expensive is Urchin stats, actually for this, the providers have to pay a good license fee which they use to transfer on the customer’s shoulder. For running a good business some of the free stats or the open source solutions are more than enough. The hosting providers make these additions to make their package more attractive. One needs to judge through the core features and then finally should go in for the add-ons, which may complement the core.

Let’s move further and look at the other sources. The other reliable source is that customers can talk directly with the hosting providers and ask them for an honest opinion on the features which his/her business requires. So the conclusion is that after reading the articles and getting directly contact with 8 or 9 providers, one can have a good amount of knowledge and can say that he/she now can act intelligently while choosing hosting for him/her. Generally what happens, the small website owners make silly mistakes such as they compromises with cheap sources and ignore the rest things. There are many providers who are ready to provide their services at very cheap rates but their services are of no worth and unreliable ,as when ever they are needed they gets disappear.

A good provider is the who always provides the proper support when ever needed and also charges the customers according to the support provided .At last but not least the important source with whom the user can consult is with the web consultants or one can talk to folks who have hosted before. This is a long process but the knowledge customer gains from this source are really appreciable. When a user negotiates for a best deal and when he/she gets all his/her issues resolved or one’s when business grows it is then that a real good host is required to make one’s success a history.

After the completion of the website next very important decision is to make it visible to the entire world, for this there arise needs for selecting an appropriate web host. The following are some of the factors to keep in mind while selecting an appropriate web host:-

1. How to make site accessible?

If one has applied for a web host provider he/she should take several aspects into consideration for e.g. what time it takes to load, the period of time it is up etc. These aspects are very important because problems are present related to them, this can create extreme irritation and renouncement of the potential visitors.

As search engines due to difficulties in loading do not show those web pages which are always down. That’s why the same potential can have complications in locating one’s website.

The best way to check if the server is up or not is by looking over the reviews written by other persons who have applied for the server before the user.

2. Is the host offering SSL??

The SSL protection is not necessary for a hobby websiter .However if transactions should be made in the near future by the user it is necessary for him/her to choose the web host which includes the SSL protection upfront.

It is normally applied for encrypting any piece of information for e.g. credit card codes, names, etc.

If the user is dealing up to a web host who is excluding SSL protection and giving preference to it later on will harm rather then benefiting as it could turn up to be more expensive than for a web host which provides SSL in the first priority.

3. Whether server side scripting accessible from the server or not.

In spite of the fact that these server side scripting is the facility available in all the servers, but still user must conform that they do it or not. Pages changing in real time are given the opportunity to be created by the webmasters due to the availability of server side scripting.

For example, if one is taking case of running a business and having all products systemized in a database, the server side scripting will give off the pages via the ranges the customers prefer to see.

One should not think of using a server which does not provide functionality for a server side scripting.

4. Customer Support

While choosing a web host the top priority must be given to the support which they are providing to the customers. This point is also applicable to an experienced webmaster, before signing up with a website. There are several hosts who have created special forums for frequently asked questions (FAQ-S).

Above all, points are quite popular still there is need to give special consideration to them. Thus one can enjoy the benefits of web hosting by just doing slight homework.

1.Goodwill of the web hosting company.

There are web-hosting companies on the web, which are running successfully for at least 2 years and are usually handled by experience and IT savvy network engineers. The biggest advantage of such companies is their perfect support and services to their customers. However there is yet another world of hosting which is handled by amateurs who are into this business just to extract money. For them providing support is just a joke as even they don’t know the fundamentals of the business. Thus one must be very sure to check the credentials of the web-hosting firm by either reading their profile or by looking on the technology they use for their server farm. One must make sure to select a company, which is in existence for at least 2 years with successful track record with 95% up time for all its servers. If a company is providing 95% its quite enough as 100% is just impossible.

2. Availability of storage space.

There are web-hosting companies offering space ranging from as small as 20 MB to as big as 2GB or even more. But this largely depends upon the user. One must make sure that his/her budget should not get fail by asking for unnecessary space than required. This trend is quite common among beginners, as they are unable to estimate the amount of space their web site requires and so asks for bigger space in order to play safe which is mere wastage of money. Thus one should be very careful while selecting the storage space for his/her website. It should not be less than required but at the same time should not be very much wasting money.

3. Availability of bandwidth space for transferring data each month

Its always required to transfer data to website and update its content often in order to stay afresh and also to keep ratings high up on the search engines right. There are several web hosting companies offering a certain bandwidth or “transfer window” to enable their clients to transport their data from local computer hard disk drive to the web server. But this transfer window has a limitation of limited space in order to prevent the bandwidth overloading from user’s repeatedly transferring large amounts of data to and fro. Therefore a bandwidth space is allocated to enable one to manage the amount data he/she wants to transfer each month into the storage space allocated. One should note that the data that one transfers is constantly kept track of until one has reach the transfer limit for that month. Now on this ground most web hosting companies tend to be mean so as to provide so called “high speed data transfer” to their clients and restrict bandwidth off at 1GB.

4. Support-Online as well as offline.

Support is an area often overlooked by the beginners while signing up for a web-hosting contract. However it should be noted that support is the most important feature one should check while selecting a web hosting company. It is very important for 24 hour successful running of a website that there is always any technical fellow from the hosting company to answer the calls and ensure the website staying up and running even at odd time. Thus it is important to have 24 hours support everyday of the week and also relevant safety measures implemented in the data center at which one’s server resides. Not only this it is also important to find out more about the location of the data center about the power supply facilities, its location and also the safety measures that have been put in place such as fire protection and relevant data backup facilities to a remote location as a safety should a physical destruction occur that literally wipes out the whole data center.

One has resolute to acquire a reseller web hosting account to resell web space. What can be probably the step? Well it’s given as under-

1. Prefer the policy which one wants to put in application.

More open source software programs are based on Linux and not for Windows, this factor which makes Linux quite cheaper. While the majority of programs (Perl, PHP, Flash, etc.) run on both stands, a little will process on only Windows or Linux. Requirement of a Windows platform is must for a site that requires ASP or MS Access.

2. Select the control panel one wants to bring into play.

Control panels for websites can be categorized from basic to advance. As a reseller, one would also have a control panel for him/her to manage and command the hosting accounts.

In selecting the Hosting Automation Software, several panels are compared possessing excellent features for web host resellers.

3. Pick the right host.

One must choose the web host company after taking into consideration all the aspects —. Factors to keep in mind when choosing a web host for a reseller account:

The platform and control panel

Account features

The company’s status — quest for online reviews by customers

The verification of server uptime

The level of support — the gap between the asked support and the support actually provided especially time-sensitive ones?

Elasticity — does the web host have packages that can uplift one in the period of scarcity? Will they modify their steps in the rigid circumstances?

How much experienced is the web host— while an innovative web host probably be very effective, many web-hosting businesses do not survive even for 12 months

Price-one should check what he/she is getting for the price quoted.

Now coming up to Reseller hosting-

4. Set up of one’s own hosting strategy and fees

One should divide and should find out the ratio of bandwidth to disk space that one can put forward. Take into consideration any ratios that fluctuate due to difference in packages, and then one should base his/her packages on that ratio.

One should consider the prices prevailing in the market .However one should also take into account the additional facilities if provided by the host provider.

5. Build up a commercial site

One has three main alternatives for site development:

Crafting a website by putting in use an open website pattern

For crafting of site summon a designer or a design group.

If one is having good designing skills as well as techniques, then there is no harm for him/her to develop a site by his/her own.

There must be an ideal ethics in the information that clients deserve and want to know.

6. Build a site which is e-commerce geared up

To be in a condition of receiving payments for hosting accounts, one will have to set up:

An SSL permit

A trade account

An expense access

7. To set up a helpdesk

A helpdesk permits clients to remain in touch with their provider so as to get desired response of their queries.

8. To systemize billing

With automated billing system, it’s quite easy to register billing as well as to make payments to clients. There are several billing software licenses that are rated on monthly or yearly basis, Life span licenses are also given by some billing software companies at an offered amount.

Examples of some popular billing and payment processing systems:

WHM.Autopilot

Whois.Cart etc

When one chooses a billing software program, he/she must check if it’s friendly with his/her server platform and if support is integrated.

9. Generating a welcome email

One must send a welcome email to his/her client after setting up his/her own hosting accounts .The email should contain:

A confirmation of the plan details, name server names ,a username and temporary password ,a link to the control panel ,links to one’s own knowledge base / FAQ and to his/her own helpdesk etc.

10. Promoting a website

One must put forward his/her site to search engines. One must put his/her knowledge into the minds of his/her family, peers, and colleague’s .One should contain a link to it in one’s signature line in departing mails. However one must not stop here instead should promote his/her website through incoming links, marketing, newsletters, and unique offers.

Web hosting opinion

In the present scenario it is a daunting task to choose a web hosting company. There are literally thousands of web hosting companies to prefer from, each offering unparallel set of combinations of web space, bandwidth, databases, asp, customer support etc. Some company’s trend us to entice customers with fancy offers on the assets like space and bandwidth. In return, however, most customers did not get satisfactory level services. In the hosting business, the client is at top most priority.

So now the question comes how one can choose the dreamed web hosting company? One must always suggest that the priority must be given by type and need of his/her website (whether for a company or personal). Is the database required? If so, what kind one prefers, MySQL or something else? Likewise, is PHP, CGI, ASP, or some other programming language needs additional support? These questions can come into play when one uses certain scripts into his/her own website. One must also consider the space of his/her website from future prospects. The same is applied for bandwidth, or transfer. One must secure enough space and bandwidth now so that he/she need not pay for extra services, in the future.

One should convey an important financial lesson in the topic of bandwidth and storage space concern. Although one should try to possess sufficient amount of both for a predictable future still there is no need to pay a huge sum for bandwidth and storage space which is not required. For instance, companies are providing 5+ GB and perhaps 100 GB of space and bandwidth respectively at a very fair cost. Now, one can easily find a nice 500MB / 20GB plan for only under $5 per month. One must know how much space and bandwidth he/she will require before searching for a host.

Numerous hosting companies are in the race of providing fascinating services. But it is not confirm to be the passport of providing best caring facility. One must look for a company having a good, honest support structure set up with a variety of support options: support tickets, live support chat, e-mail support, and perhaps phone support. If someone is considering about a particular web host, the best thing he/she can do to evaluate their support is via. an e-mail or open a support ticket and perceive the duration of response. It’s not a good sign if it extends to more than 24 hours.

The credibility of one’s web-hosting company can be easily measured just by looking on to its customer testimonials on its web page. One must contact at least one customer if his/her e-mail or website address is provided in the list and must know about their experiences with the given company. Google and Yahoo! Search engines can be useful if there is no testimonial provided to search the customer. Forums and other WebPages can also be used in customer feedback about one’s company. Several times, many customers use to share their experiences, either good or bad with hosting companies. Thus one can also ask from them their recommendations while selecting a web host and by this a third party can judge the credibility of his/her host also.

In web hosting reseller business, the most important decision is choice of web hosting control panel software. Good web hosting software not only saves time or money but also it saves one from lot of frustration. There are several questions which are quite important while considering about the type of reseller web host. They are -What reseller control panel features should one chooses that reduces one’s workload? What are the hosting software programs that are integrated with the reseller control panel or work with it? What are the website control panel features that one’s client will like? Given below the comparison of 4 types of quality web hosting reseller software programs is given- Alabanza

cPanel

H-Sphere

Plesk

All of the above are the 4 types of reseller control panels that come with control panels for one’s clients. They all are well equipped with several numerous features like advanced email management, web statistics, pre-installed scripts, multi-language support etc. All the above mainly work on Linux platforms, while H-Sphere and Plesk also work with Windows. As per cPanel website, a Windows version of cPanel is in development phase.

Other features that set these control panels apart are their degree of automation, the number of features and ease of use for the end user.

Alabanza:

When user becomes an Alabanza reseller, he/she not only gets the facility of a reseller account but he/she even can lease a dedicated server from Alabanza. Alabanza owns the control panel and the server, and one can easily resell directly for Alabanza. If one leases a dedicated Alabanza server, he/she can create his/her own reseller accounts. However, only the user can set up hosting plans; resellers below him/her will be confined only to hosting plans that user creates.

Alabanza offers resellers a very high degree of mechanization with its Domain System Manager (DSM), which can radically reduce overhead and time spent on routine tasks like Account creation, Billing and invoice management, Credit card processing, Domain registration, Email notifications and ordering fraud protection etc.

Even the beginners can sell hosting with this level of mechanization.

For domain name registration, DSM also integrates with bulkregister.com. However it does not integrate easily with other domain registrars.

A very important main feature that resellers use to offer to their client is the Xpress Product Suite, which serves as an important tool for web development and also works well as an email management tools. The Xpress Product Suite includes SiteXpress, which is a website-building program featuring more than 300 templates and even does not require web design skills.

Control panel for resellers and end users- cPanel is well known for its easiness of use and range of features. It consists of collection of more than 50 pre-installed scripts and Fantastico auto installer that assists clients to set up their sites even if they do not possess good web development knowledge.

A basic cPanel reseller account comes with two separate programs for resellers to manage their business:

Web Host Manager (WHM) is used to create accounts and packages, add and suspend sites, modify passwords, view bandwidth usage, park domains, install SSL certificates, and perform other administrative functions.

Now, from the reseller’s cPanel control panel, a drop-down menu takes the reseller to the control panels for each of the sites on the reseller account, including the reseller’s site.

WHM Autopilot is an additional optional program, by which one can automate account creation and suspension, email notifications, and other tasks. WHM Autopilot also integrates with common payment gateways and has a helpdesk, an invoice module, and other tools.

H-Sphere:-It is designed for both Linux and Windows platforms. Not only those resellers can even set t up plans for both Linux and Windows and administer sites on different servers from the same control panel. The control panel, which is actually a separate server, also provides administrative access to the integrated helpdesk.

The H-Sphere control panel provides utility in several forms like it enables server automates account configuration, credit card processing, domain registration, and email notifications etc. It also includes a built-in billing module and supports over 20 payment gateways.

From the reseller’s point of view, H-Sphere is equipped with a higher learning curve in comparison to other control panels because of its plentiful features example , when user is setting up a new plan, the administrator has two pages of features to select from, including setup and monthly pricing for optional services.

For beginners H-Sphere may look very much complicated for their needs. However for skilled users H-Sphere is like a complimentary feature. Main feature of H-Sphere is the ability to have control over separate domains with multi-domain hosting.

H-Sphere usually comes along with the website builder Site Studio, which guides users through a variety of style choices and stores content separately from the layout. Best part is for this no HTML or FTP knowledge is required.

Plesk:

Demand of Plesk is increasing day by day among users and resellers not only because of its quality of providing stability and security but also due to its simple navigation, clean interface, and its professional appearance. Moreover Plesk is available in versions for both Linux and Windows platforms.

With Plesk, all users like Server administrator , Client / reseller , Domain owner , Mail user etc use the same control panel but with different levels of control.

Each level of the control panel enables user control over both that level and the level(s) below it. It provides facility to Email users, to log into their mail user control panel so as to enable them to change their password, add auto responders, and change other personal settings without having access to the domain owner control panel etc.

Plesk handles Spam Assassin not at the domain level but at the mailbox level.

With this facility users are able to categorize email into white list or blacklist for each email address, which allows each email user to have individual settings.

One should have some automation available with his/her account, such as credit card charges, email notification etc. If one’s Plesk reseller account is with a web host who offers HSP completely

A dream of “big things” can be seen on a concrete platform only. Interconnection of Web Sites, that in the last one decade became appropriate for e-commerce, communications, special software etc. Now, that can be said as the first era of the Web Hosting Industry. However, the second era of Web Hosting was an applicable era consisting of new online platforms, with the traffic further shifted.

Within a small nick of time things like commerce, content and communications found their home on the Web. The shopping cart became the core of the online commerce, but in the current period of time a number of small traders (and some large ones) are selling their wares through the mediums like Amazon, Yahoo! or eBay etc. besides providing the transaction and the catalog technologies, they also bring the life giving blood of commerce: the customers. On the hosted stores from Amazon, Yahoo! or eBay, instantaneous access to a very huge number of customers from every part of the world is possible.

One can take the application-service-provider business model as the live example of several these new homes that were formerly hosted on one’s own server.

Everything is outscored, even the task of search build on several websites. There is existence of only few larger sites that requires implementing their own search, while others prefer Google.

One can say that, email is also an outscored function, like for example who does not employ Google’s Gmail or Yahoo!’s Mail, now their accounts are made up for free and one can have a whole gb for storage. User can imagine how many Web Hosting offers are provided to him/her with one GB per user, even for a fee. In a condition where the applications are moving out of the Web hosting data center, what can a Web host do?

What can a host offer to the customers?

Definitely, imminent can be the answer: “value migrates to adjacent layers” for this particular condition that value migrates to services. The Web Hosting vendors are constructing muscular businesses to survive though time.

Due to constant flexible nature of the Internet, the services that embrace, rather then compete with, the migration of services away from the Web Hosting data center is the key aspect. Clients that are helped to wander on gmail, or several big companies for e.g. Amazon, eBay or Yahoo!, will symbolize the crucial walk towards a progressive Web host.

However, the process of the migration is not a simple task, so an ideal host must help his/her clients by offering them free toolkits and libraries for the purpose to assist them in this overall migration process.

Thus through this one can see a glittering future of The Web Hosting Industry.

If one believes on a recent investigation, then, there are around 50,000 web-hosting providers in the market fighting for the survival. Each day dozens of new web hosting companies put their feet on the burning ground, desperately fighting to come in the eyes of people with a privilege to host their services.

One can call hosting industry quite new, but dangerous from the aspect of cutthroat competition. Still, placing itself in the markets with a definite and good future. About 50,000 websites are launched every week, which demands online space for hosting. This data is stretching its legs day by day.

If one talks about a shocking truth, then the output of the term ‘web hosting’ this month in Yahoo was over 2 million (accurate data was 2,149,851)!

In addition to it, due to increasing popularity of blogs, numerous new blogs are launched each day. However, several of these are hosted for free; but relatively serious bloggers requires an account kept with a dependable web host.

In fact, each paid hosting account demands minimum one domain name registration.

Growth of Domain Name Registration:

If one talks about the top-level domain until now on the basis of reliability and popularity then it will be. Com.

At present probable registration of this domain is about 40 million. The .com experiences a monopoly with more than 70 % of the market share in its hand. The .net is at the second position with 10% of the market share in its hand.

Due to ruthless competition in the market, clients concern to web hosting and domain name are enjoying outstanding deals. As aim of web hosting provider is to convince the customers, so that they can increase their market share.

It is due to severe competition only that one can enjoy a quality service just by paying only $10 a month. Domain names which few time ago was available at $35 was come down to $4.99 only.

Thus it produces a win – win situation for both the dealing parties i.e. the web hosting providers and their clients. The new hosting providers can definitely impress their customers and can strengthen their roots in the web hosting market.

Hence, one cannot get an enhanced opportunity than this to make an Internet presence.

So, go and make a mark!!

Selecting the right web server is considered very crucial decision in online business. It is due to the fact that the web server can either make the business or can even destroy one’s business.

There are two types of servers, one is Virtual Web Hosting and the other is Virtual Private Servers.

Since several years Virtual Web Hosting has been the only way to go when selecting a web server. One of the reasons for the Virtual Web Hosting’s popularity is that they supports the necessary files and allows one to have more freedom than any other conventional web hosts. But now one can have more freedom than ever before with Virtual Private Servers. However, Virtual Private Servers should not be confused with Virtual Hosts, as they both are entirely different from each other.

In this article the difference between a Virtual Host and a Virtual Private Server is explained. Moreover the advantages and disadvantages of both the servers are also explained in order to give understanding as to which server should be chosen for business.

Virtual Hosting

Virtual Hosting is also known as Shared web hosting, where one can share the physical server and a single set of software applications with other users. Virtual Hosting was very popular in the past due to features like fast deployment, strong resources, and attractive price. Another advantage offered by Virtual Hosting is that it provides a powerful, reliable, and professionally managed server and it can be easily handled without having to have advanced technical skills, thus making it ideal for an individual, small business, or even a fresher webmaster.

The greatest disadvantage of Virtual Hosting is that the server is shared with other users, which are configured and even controlled by an administrator, not user. Thus there is no control in the hands of the users and in case of adjusting or setting configuration one have to contact the administrator every time. Even if one manages to get a hold of the administrator, then also they may not fulfill the request. It’s all up to them as they are the administrator. Thus these are the limitations faced by users when control is not in their hands.

Virtual Private Servers

Virtual Private Servers are very popular now days for giving the good and satisfactory results. A Virtual Private Server is a single server that is partitioned at the root into multiple dedicated servers. This enables one to share the cost of the network connectivity, hardware, and system maintenance with other hosting customers, with maintaining the flexibility and freedom.

The most important advantage of Virtual Private Servers is that they allow complete control to users and they have security advantages of a dedicated server at very low cost. Thus one can have access to the virtual root, Telnet, web configuration files, and full CGI-BIN access. Not only that, they also provide access to one’s password and send mail configuration files to their users. Thus after considering above advantages it can be concluded that a Virtual Private Server is an excellent solution for small to medium size businesses having complex requirements.

However, there is one disadvantage with Virtual Private Servers, i.e. one need to have some program knowledge in order to control and configure the settings. But this advantage is also evaded by most businesses that offer Virtual Private Servers as they provide detailed manuals making them easier to configure and control. Thus no need to learn the programs as well.

Now one can decide which server is right for him/her. However it all depends on user’s requirement as well as the size of your network.

If one plans on having just one web site and have absolutely no programming knowledge, for him/her Virtual Hosting serves as a best as its quite economical as well. A Virtual Host costs around $20 to $50 per month for an account, as against a $100 or more charged by a Virtual Private Server.

On the other hand, if one is having a larger network requiring multiple web sites and user is having some programming knowledge, then a Virtual Private Server can serves a best. One can host up to 50 web sites on a Virtual Private Server account, instead of having multiple Virtual Hosting accounts, which is quite expensive.

Thus one must make sure while selecting a server that it is as per requirement and it supports essential software for a flourishing online business.

If one is forming a group of web site or a business web site, the main thing is that his/her agenda must to find good, dependable, cheap webhosting for his/her site. In nearly all cases, a free hosting service never works. One will quickly find out that there’s a broad range of prices that are nearly affordable, and what are the services that comes with the web-hosting package.

Things to be considered while selecting a web-hosting package

Before taking any decisions, one should know very clearly that what he/she needs. One should also know the purpose of his/her web site and what are the things he/she requires from the server. For example, if one is planning to host a web-based community forum, he/she certainly needs a web host, which gives PHP and an SQL database. On the other hand, if one is planning for running the Active Server Pages, or .NET applications, he/she should need a server running on Windows rather than a UNIX or Linux code base.

Realize the need before searching, which is far easier to select rather than changing afterwards.

One should look for the best plans.

Accompaniments can change a cheap web-hosting package into an expensive one before one knows it completely. Mainly hosting packages permit one to add on a la carte items as one requires them, but it may get expensive afterwards. If the web host one has chosen, charges a setup fee for the shopping cart, which one didn’t think he/she’d need, it could easily be the same as of several month’s hosting fees. Thus ,one should decide what he/she will need, then should get more than what one expects he/she’ll use.

Cheapest web host, providing 24/7 support.

Ideally, one’s web hosting provider must admit any request for assisting his/her client within an hour with a predictable time of completion. One’s host server should provide his/her client with a searchable known factor to guide him/her through most familiar tasks, which one needs to-do, and support desk to help one online at any time.

Despite how cheap a web host cost is, if it’s not working, then one is surely wasting his/her money for no use. However, before signing up with a web-hosting provider, one should supervise them for a while, or must ask around on forums about their previous records. A hosting service MUST be reliable. A hosting service which is not able to keep one’s site online and available may only lose his/her business and money. So be cautious!!

When a user got his web hosting account with PHP and mySQL support, then he/she can easily do free programming and scripts so as to enjoy the benefit of their powerful combined capabilities.

Generally all the web hosting providers either paid or free always add some free pre-installed scripts to their customers in the way of guest books, counters and calendars. The users who are searching around can find out the toys and bells and whistles that they can install on their web pages including hundreds of scripts and applications. The user can set up one of dozens of forums, which they can choose from many image galleries and photo albums, and also can serve classified ads, offering auction listings and dating services – in brief just about everything the user can do on the Internet, and also about what he/she can do with a free PHP script from his/her web hosting provider.

There are many free services but one of the best free services to look for is Fantastico, which is a web-based script installer that allows user to add any of dozens of free goodies to his/her web site and that is just by a click of a mouse. If the web hosting provider offers Fantastico with its hosting accounts, user can get access to over a dozen different content management systems, half a dozen user forums, several different blog packages, shopping carts, including Zen Cart and OS Commerce, an easy FAQ maker and six different customer support options so as to enable user to offer help and support on his/her web site.

Two of the handiest types of free tools that many web hosting companies offer for free are:

Portals and Content Management Systems

They make easy for the user to add and remove pages and information to and from their web site. Most of them include modules that allows user to add discussion boards, shopping carts, polls and instant messaging, as well as user authentication and security to his/her web site easily. Mambo, Post-Nuke, Xoops and Drupal are among the content management systems that webhosting company are offering for free. All are open source software with a lot of user support beyond the support offered by user’s web hosting company. Thus there are always new modules and new tricks being offered for all of them.

Blogs

Blogs are online publishing tools by which the user can easily update their website whenever he/she wants. They automatically put the latest entries up and move older entries down in the reading queue. WordPress is one of the most commonly used, which many web hosting providers include as a free setup script with users web hosting account. Thus one should always try to avail all the perks being offered by the web host providers.

Web Hosting Service is a form of Internet hosting service, which permits organizations and individuals to offer their own websites that are accessible through the World Wide Web. Web hosts are the firms that furnish space on the server owned by them, for the usage of both the clients and also, for providing better connectivity on the internet as in case of a data center. Additionally, web hosts could provide connectivity and data center space to the internet for servers not owned by them to be placed in the data center. This is called as “colocation”.

Web Hosting Service Scope:

Web hosting services scope may vary widely. Small-scale file hosting and webpage are the most basic scopes where the files could be uploaded through a web interface or a file transfer protocol. These are usually delivered with little processing to the Web. Most internet service providers extend this service free of cost to the subscribers. They can also obtain hosting of web pages from alternative providers of service. Typically, personal web site hosting is cheap and advertisement-sponsored are free but very often, business web site hosting has a higher expenditure.

Generally, single page hosting is adequate for personal web pages. A more comprehensive package is provided by a complex site providing application development platforms such as ASP.Net, Java, PHP and database support. Such facilities permit the customers to install or write the scripts for applications such as content management and forums.

An interface control panel may also be provided by the host for installing scripts such as e-mail and for managing the web server.

The one who is planning to have an economic web hosting plan, knowing what services he/she requires, the amount that he/she should pay for them can help one pick out hidden costs that could launch one’s selected cheap hosting plan into an expense that one just can’t afford. The following are some of the points to keep in mind while selecting a cheap web hosting for personal or business web site.

A La Carte Pricing

One should not be pulled in by impossibly low prices. Due to intense competition and due to resellers ,the prices of web hosting have came down to just bottom, still one should expect to pay for quality, dependable, professional web hosting services. A la carte prices can give an impression that a web hosting plan is incredible good deal, but one should be prepared to know exactly what he/she needs and what he/she will be paying for it. When one add in setup fees, upgrade fees and additional monthly fees for things like scripting support, a mySQL database and php support, one can end up paying far more for his/her affordable plan. Thus it’s better to opt for a little expensive plan but which is without any hidden costs.

Read the Fine Print

One should read through every little entry in the comparison chart to see for what one is being charged for, and what fees he/she might incur if he/she will go over his/her monthly limits. In case there is anything not clear or is not listed properly, one should immediately email the company to ask what they charge for particular services and if there’s a setup fee. Thus it will tell one more than just how much the services cost. Not only will that one also get an idea about the effectiveness of support and help of the provider.

Is Unlimited really Unlimited?

One should be very careful while selecting host reading glasses away yet. If a host provider is offering plan with ‘unlimited traffic’, then one should be very sure to check what does unlimited mean for them .Mostly web hosting providers use ‘typical usage patterns’ to define what unlimited means. If one’s web site becomes popular enough to exceed what’s normal for other web sites of one’s size, then he/she has to be prepared for paying extra for bandwidth and in that case the word ‘unlimited’ is just meaningless.

E-Commerce Ready Sites for Cheap Prices

Often one gets attracted with the above given article. But one should check to see what’s actually included in that cheap e-commerce ready site. Does it include access to their secure server, or will one have to purchase his/her own license? Is there a good deal on bill-collecting services and credit card access, or will one have to arrange by him/her own? Thus one should be very sure to know what he/she is getting for his/her money so that he/she can plan his/her web hosting expenses in a better way.

Generally there are lots of justifiably good web hosting deals to be had, but just like any other purchase, it also requires one to do his/her homework in a better way to make sure that one gets the most affordable, most professional and best web hosting deal .

There are many exciting things that happen in world of web hosting. One such incidence is given below. John received an email in his email box yesterday. There was a short story over there. John read the story and found it quite interesting. It was around 5 to 6 lines in total and in the end there was a link and it was asked to click on that link. John did the same and waited for around 1 minute or so but no page got downloaded. John thought his internet connection is slow so he checked it but to his surprise it was perfect.

He tried several times but the result was same every time. John again continued his routine work and in the evening tried to open that link but it was same and so due to frustration he deleted that mail.

This incidence makes one think deeply why people don’t choose their web host carefully. It is really important to select web host carefully as one’s whole business depends upon his/her web host only.

After finishing the website the next important step which one needs to take is making it visible on the net, for that he/she needs a web host. One can get a very cheap or even free hosting services but one should not select free hosting if he/she is using his/her site for commercial purpose. There are several reasons for not preferring cheap host for commercial purposes. One such reason is with free web hosting users get pop-ups or ads and as a result their clients get annoyed by seeing every time these pop-ups when they surf user’s page. Thus due to these pop-ups, one not only loses business but also it damages his/her goodwill. Also biggest drawback is with free web hosting the address would be like for example www.myfreehost.com/my_sites now one can image what would be the effect of this on clients. Surely negative!

The following are some of the points one should keep in mind while selecting a web hosting-

1. Space

The first and the foremost point to consider is space. One should plan in advance the amount of space required for his/her site. If one is having just one or two page website with no downloads or big files then he/she should not worry about space but if one is planning to go for resale right product, in that case he/she easily need at least 100 MB space. There are several good web hosts offering minimum 1 GB space to their clients.

2. Bandwidth

Second important feature to consider is bandwidth. This is the only factor if not given considerable attention in beginning tends to cost huge amount of money afterwards. There are incidences where one has to pay fees up to hundreds of dollars for bandwidth and still they lost their host. Thus one should consider this factor before finalizing any web host .Mostly good host provides 25 to 50 GB of Bandwidth.

3. Support System

After space and bandwidth the next factor to consider is support. Support plays a very vital role in one’s success. This is due to the fact that in case of any problem it is only support which is going to help him/her out of the problem. It is also essential to get the response well in time else it would be useless. One should check in advance if the host is proving 24/7 phone support or not.

In addition to above there are some additional features which one should consider while choosing a web host-:

The amount of POP email account being provided by them.

What is the amount of databases they are providing?

Do they possess Web based e-mail?

Do they possess Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus filters?

Is password protected to one’s directories available?

Is there any provision to take regular backup in case of server get crashed?

Are they offering money-back Guarantee, if one is not satisfied with the services?

Do they support Perl, PHP, Crontab and Secure Server Layer? Etc.

The above mentioned facilities are the one which one does not require in the beginning but he/she needs them in the future. Thus one should always keep in mind the above mentioned points and he/she won’t get disappointed with his/her selection afterwards.

No doubt, there are several free web hosting accounts that are free to use, but they will cost the user a lot of money, time, and customers as well as if he/she possess a site that is meant for work related to business and is more than the simplest site possible. One should throw light on the following things to know why free web hosting might cost him/her more than what he/she had bargained at the time of signing up.

Thought no.1 Bandwidth

Often, one can say that free web hosting providers offers the user little bandwidth which denotes that it will take longer for his/her page to load. If a page takes more than 10 seconds to load then the user will lose visitors because they will just move on. Due to this reason, one might lose a lot of customers and sales from his/her facility of free web host.

Thought no.2 Advertising

It is a universal consideration that many free web hosting companies are “free” to the user, yet, the user will have advertising posted on his/her website in addition to pop up ads. Several people do not like such thing and avoid visiting user’s site due to this reason. One should be careful about signing up with a free web hosting company that use to advertise. It probably may not bother the user in the beginning, but it will perhaps affect his/her traffic and sales.

Thought no.3 Web Capacity

By considering that, web host is free; one cannot desire for an ample of web space. Often people do not get the space they require to upload their web page and which include all of their information. The user should confirm that there is sufficient amount of space available from his/her free web space provider and it should properly match with the required elements of the user’s web pages.

Thought no.4 Reliability

Another point to consider while selecting free web hosting is reliability. Often time’s limitations are put on one’s traffic flow and if one exceeds this, his/her site may be disabled for a period of time or one may even receive a bill. Thus one should find out what the rules for traffic and what can be the consequences if one exceeds his/her limit.

Thought no.5 Limitations

In most of the cases, one’s free web host will have rules regarding the size of photos, its upload, icons etc. One should check in advance these things before signing up the contract as if this facility is not available then one is not in a position to upload his/her own photos and then he/she has to check for any other host..

While talking technically, free web hosting is free but in reality it indirectly costs much especially in the long run because it limits activity and business from occurring at the rate set by consumers. Due to this if one’s business is growing and his/her site is experiencing big traffic then free web hosting is really going be an expensive affair. Thus instead of getting in trouble afterwards its better to check in advance if a free server will really be worthwhile and thereafter one should make a plan for change and growth ahead of time as everyone works with a desire to grow.

The following are the tips one must keep in mind while choosing a new web host: -

1) One must make sure that the new web host plan offers the storage capabilities to handle all of the current website storage requirements. If the size of the website is 50MB, then one must check for the plan that offers at least that much space or more. In case one is not able to make estimates about the space required then he/she must ask his/her current host. Also this information can be found on control panel.

2) One must also check how does his/her current web host determine the amount of storage used for? It is necessary to check what one’s current and new host includes in the plan’s storage amount also one should check are one’s emails and log files counted towards his/her total storage, or the web files only?

3) Its necessary to know what operating system does one’s current hosting plan use? Windows or Unix? Mostly it makes no difference but in some cases it can make the difference between a working website and a broken website. In case one’s site is currently on a Windows server and the website uses ASP scripting, then its difficult to make things work well on a Unix server, as ASP is a Windows based programming language. So one should check immediately whether his/her hosting plan is on a Unix or Windows server.

4) Also its important to check if one’s your site currently use FrontPage? Before switching to new host one should check if the new host supports FrontPage and the prevailing version.

5) Another important issue to take care is the amount of bandwidth offered by the new host. One should check if the new hosting plan offers the same amount of bandwidth that the current host offers. This should be checked in advance to avoid unexpected high bills afterwards.

6) Make sure if the new web hosting plan gives the same amount of email accounts, auto responders and mail forwards that the current host provides.

7) Its necessary to check if one’s site uses a shopping cart that the current hosting plan provides? It is essential to have a suitable shopping cart replacement in case one desires to move the cart to the new host. So one must check that as well.

If one is using any scripts on his/her website, its important to check if one’s new hosting plan supports all of one’s scripts. One must make sure in advance if there is any need to make any modifications to scripts to get them working on the new server.

9) Don’t forget to set up the existing email accounts on the new server before transferring domain name to the new server.

10) In case user is just a beginner and even don’t know how to upload files, its necessary to check with the provider if he can do that with no extra charges. There are some hosts who offer such facility free of cost yet some don’t offer this facility because of liability issues.

It’s necessary to double check if the site looks and functions properly on the new server after completing the uploading process. Preview facility is provided in the form of preview link to see how the site looks and some hosts provide this facility before the domain name is transferred over. In case this preview facility is not available with the host, still there is a method to preview the site. One can modify his/her host’s file to preview the site. The host file tells the computer where to go to look for sites that are listed in that file and this works with any version of Windows. Here the file location can change but the file name remains the same. Below is the way to modify the host’s file:

The file HOSTS should be in the c: windowssystem32driversetc One can find a file named HOSTS.SAM (as in SAMPLE). That is OK; one can modify the HOSTS.SAM file as well and do a SAVE AS HOSTS.

In both the cases one should double click on the HOSTS file to open it. Thereafter one will be prompted by Windows to select an Application (Program) to use to VIEW the file.

Now scroll the list and select Notepad and then one should click on the OK button. The NOTEPAD program will now open, displaying the file HOSTS.

So, in order to tell computer that www.yourwebsite.com is at the address (replaced with the real IP) 12.345.678.90 one should add the following entry to the bottom of the hosts file:

12.345.678.90 www.yourdomain.com (As in the example).

Now one should click on FILE, slide down and click on SAVE AS. Then in the Save As one should type field, select ALL FILES. After completing that click on save. One warning will come which should be ignored i.e. the file already exists but that’s ok, then just one has to click YES.

Now one should close Notepad, by clicking on FILE, slide down to EXIT, and click.

Now when one will open the web browser, or try to ping the site, the system will go to the IP address one typed in the HOSTS file.

One should not forget to undo this when testing is finished else the computer will always want to go to that IP address whenever one want to go to that site.

After being satisfied with the site looks and functions, one can go to his/her registrar (where the domain name is registered) and modify the nameservers associated with one’s domain name to his/her new web host’s nameservers. In case one does not know his/her new host’s name servers, should confirm with them. However most hosts have that information listed somewhere on their website or in the email one first get after signing up for an account.

After the completion of domain nameserver modification it will take around 24-48 hours and the site will be displayed on the new server.

One must check his/her domain name and should see if the nameservers added are listed. If yes, the website transfer is complete to new web host. And after the confirmation is received one can cancel the old web hosting account.

One of the most important decisions one should make while deciding to put on his/her business on the web is which web hosting provider to use. The web hosting company that hosts one’s personal page may not offer the best plan for one’s business needs. The following are the several things one should take care while selecting a web host for one’s professional web pages.

Windows or *nix Web Hosting

When a web hosting provider is talking about an operating system, he/she means the operating system that his/her server uses. There is no need for Windows hosting if one is using a Windows operating system on his/her machine. Windows hosting is not required if one is building his/her pages in Front Page. The main reason for opting Windows web server hosting is that it enables to take advantage of .asp and .net programming capabilities, which can be extremely powerful. If one is not sure, then he/she should check with the person who will be designing his/her pages and ask for their recommendation.

Choice of Web Hosting Services

One must look for a web hosting provider that offers all the services that one needs in order to build the web site of his/her choice. The following are the services that make a good deal even better are:

Reduced price or free domain registration

When one is building a company web site, having his/her own domain name is very important to present a professional image. there are several web hosting providers that registers one’s domain name for free, and take care of all the details of renewing and updating information so that one need not to worry about it.

Secure server transactions on their server

If one is planning to accept payments or exchange personal information over the Internet, access to a secure server is most essential. One must look for a web hosting package that includes SSL in its basic price.
PHP and mySQL support

If one chooses a UNIX server, PHP and database support can provide powerful tools for running applications and forums, content management systems and more. Most business and e-commerce plans include them.

Design Services at reduced prices

There are several web hosting providers offering professional web design services to their customers at a discount rate. Thus one should avail these discounts. The main advantage of a professional looking web site is that it inspires confidence in one’s customers.

Web-mail services and POP Email Boxes

One must also look for a business web hosting plan that offers the maximum POP email boxes so as to enable one to assign email addresses to all his/her employees and departments. The advantage of a web-mail interface is that it allows users to access their mail from any computer.

Thus one can find a web hosting provider that offers all the features that one wants and that too at an affordable price. The only thing required is one should do his/her home work properly i.e. he/she should compare all the hosts before selecting the most important one.

The first thing people notice when shopping for hosting is the price. We all thing about saving some money, and shaving a few money off your monthly hosting initiative can help a lot.
However, you need to remember that market value is not everything. Some businesses provide very cheap hosting, but have very low bandwidth, web space, etc, or control panel is’nt user frendly have a lot of downtime etc…
When choosing a web host, you should be very careful. The principally step you should do, is analyze what exactly your needs are. Every site needs a different brand of hosting. If you just recently made a blog or simple web site, you could probably get away with a shared hosting plan. However, if your site is larger, and it has a lot of traffic, you should get a premium hosting plan.
If you have a site that has many return users, you ought to need to look for hosting that has minimal downtime. However, if when chosing a web host you are promised 100% uptime, you are being lied to. There is no such thing as 100% uptime. For those who do not know, “uptime” is the age your website is basically live and able to be accessed by people surfing the internet. It is nothing to worry about, as usually downtime lasts less than an hour, and is a really rare .
Though there are many methods on the web to help you when you are choosing a web host, the a large amount of valuable, in my opinion, is a nice forum. There are many webmaster related forums out there, filled with helpful people who are more as opposed to willing to help you out. There are as well a number of websites that are utterly devoted to provided that you with information to help you in the difficult process of choosing a web host.
For amateurs to web hosting, you should consult an web resource, or ask someone who has supplementary experience. It is hard to appreciated exactly what you need in a hosting company. For those amid just 1 to a few sites, a simple hosting procedures will suffice. However, if you own 10 or more websites, it may be worth it to purchase your own dedicated server.
You should always take your time when choosing a web host. The decision of what host to use is not one that should be made hastily. Hosting is vitally important to your website. If you have low top notch hosting that loads slowly and is at a slump often, it will be hard to convince people to end up with to your site. Return visitors are absolutely vital to your site. Whether your site is commercial or personal, you will be much more and more successful if you convince those to return to your site.

With thousands of web hosting providers all around competing for one’s business, it may be confusing to find the one that’s right for one’s web site. The following are some key considerations that can help one to narrow down his/her choices to the most affordable and best options to meet one’s personal, professional or business web page needs.

What is the kind of web site that one is planning?

One’s personal web page has far different needs than one professional web page and that needs a different style of hosting than an eCommerce storefront. There are several web hosting companies offering plans sized to fit any size of style of web site. Thus selecting an appropriate plan depends upon the purpose for which one is developing his/her site.

Personal Web Page Hosting

Just like hosts there are dozens of free servers that will host your personal web pages for free, and many of them even offer most of the perks that one gets with a paid web hosting account. If one wants a personal web page without the ads, though, he/she can get a web page hosting for as little as $4.95 per month with no advertising, and with support for things like PHP and mySQL. There are many affordable web hosting packages that even register a domain name for free.

Professional Web Page Hosting

If one is setting up a web site for a professional firm, he/she will definitely want to opt for a web page hosting provider offering excellent support, free or cheap domain name registration and a good web site builder with professional looking templates to make creating one’s web site easy. If one is planning to take orders or any sort of customer information via his/her web site, then he/she will also want a web hosting provider that offers one secure server access (SSL).Thus depending on the features one opts for ,one can pay $4.95-$29.95 per month.

Business/eCommerce Web Page Hosting

If one’s business web site is more than informational web pages about his/her business, his/her web hosting package should include eCommerce software like a shopping cart, a checkout, a payment system and SSL access. Thus one needs more space and bandwidth allowance than a typical personal site. One can find many affordable eCommerce web hosting packages starting at around $14.95 per month.

Enterprise Level Web Page Hosting

Does one need space for one’s business to collaborate on projects, store information for easy retrieval and to track orders, deliveries and work hours? One requires a web hosting company that specializes in providing enterprise level web hosting solutions to large businesses. The best web hosting account should include the highest level security access to keep one’s important information secure, 24/7 customer support and tools to make access easy for all his/her employees. An affordable enterprise level packages start at around $99 per month and range upwards from there depending on the amount of customization and use that one’s web pages will obtain from it.

The Basics:

If one wants to put his/her web site online, Web hosting offers the opportunity. For making a site go online, no matter it is having large or small content one has to go onto a web server. Thus a web server is simply a larger and much more powerful computer than user’s own computer. On these servers one’s Internet content simply sits for people to access and view the information available. These web servers are stored within data centers; all what is required is simply renting some space on the server.

Why to use a web hosting service?

The first reason to choose is its affordability. The work of the web hosting companies includes looking after and updating all software required to maintain one’s site, adding security patches making sure that one’s content is safe from hackers/viruses and unwanted Spam. The first step after registration of web site’s name is hosting it with the web server. In case there comes any difficulty with the web site, full technical support is supported by the hosting company. In chases one chooses to host by own, it will cost too much on hardware, bandwidth and ongoing software updates.

What is shared web hosting?

While searching for a web host Company one will find that many are offering shared web hosting. Shared web hosting is simply a server that has a number of different web sites sitting on it simultaneously. In case of shared web hosting one will be allocated a certain amount of disk space on the server and this allows user to have a number of web sites hosted on one server. It is a very secure service even though one is sharing the server with many different companies, as no other company will have access to other’s files. There are many people having wrong opinion that using a shared service will make the web site act slowly. In case of shared web hosting the information will be displayed and downloaded equally as fast as if it where on the server on it’s own. The concept used by Web host companies is that they offer shared hosting simply to use up all the space on the server, there is no benefit to user or them having empty hard disk space.

Why good hosting is required?

If one has developed a web site for business opportunity or to sell merchandise online what all is needed is reliability as downtime costs much money. Therefore less downtime means the better chance of making money by the user. One is required to compile a whole list of questions to ask the web host company when it comes to hosting his/her site. It is necessary to have a guaranteed response time if any problem occurs with the site or if it goes offline. One needs to have 24-hour access to his/her files with 24-hour support if the site is in business of selling products online, as most of the sales could be made in the evening or nighttime. Thus it is very important to have support all time for any issues that could arise. Not only that to check the effectiveness of site it is also important to look for Statistics i.e. how many unique hits (people visiting one’s site) one is getting so that one can see the trend of people just visiting to those who are buying. Thus one should check in advance the stats offered by different companies as some web host companies offer very substantial stats while others can be less informative, so one should always ask for a demonstration before finalizing any host.

Mouth publicity is a great way to hear as to who are a good host and a bad host. One should ask his/her colleague or who is already taking the experience of that host. There are several good as well as bad hosts in the market, therefore one should ask the questions and make sure that he/she is confident with the replies before signing up.

Will hosting in own country or another, effects the web site?

It is quite interesting to know if the company is providing 24 hour support to allow for time differences, then one should have the same level service as if the web host company was based just down the road. Thus it makes no difference if the host is of same country or of another. There are many people thinking hosting their website outside of their registered country will lead to losing their domain identity, which is totally wrong example if one is based in Ireland and is having a computer website it would be something like www.computerparts.ie The. I.e. is the identity of Ireland but if one wants his site hosted in the US then he/she would still keep the. I.e., and there is no need to change to. Com. Thus the great thing about web hosting is that the world is oyster and one can shop online globally until one is satisfied with the service.

After completing the tough part i.e. creating the web site, the next further step to be followed is to host it, so that public can find ones site. The bad web host company traps the customers who are new to this web world and are web host seekers. There are many factors to be considered while selecting a web host, but the factor placed at the top is none other than price. All the users want cheap web hosting but if the web hosting is chosen on the basis of only price then it will not satisfy other requirements.

One should be very careful while choosing the web hosting company.

If one is having the budget he can fix to it, if one is not having much idea about web hosting he/she may wonder “how do they make money” its better to be away, the chances are in order to save cost, the web site will be hosted with less bandwidth resulting in a very slow accessible and unprofessional web site. Also in this case, the customer support will be absent or very less.

One should be very clear about his/her requirements from the web hosting company, if the customer do not choose the company as per his/her requirements then its not the fault of host but only he/she will be solely responsible for that .Its good to make a list of requirements such as particular files needed and thereafter he/she can send his/her requirements to multiple hosting companies and can wait for the company come back with the greater service.

If any user is having more than one web site to host, as in case of affiliate marketers, its not good to put all sites with single host in the very beginning rather one should be 100% confident with the service and start with one web site as a test. The user should also keep in mind that if he/she wants to host all of his/her websites with one host company only, all it takes is, one problem to bring all his sites down and could result in lose of revenue. It is good to host some of the websites by another company so they can work even in case of problems.

Some web host companies offer testimonials on their own web site from valued customers recommending them. Seeing is not believing, one should call these customers and get a face value recommendation for him/her self.

What to do with the problems?

Now the problems can arise either due to the customer’s fault or by the web host company. There is no certainty of the technological Problem to occur, as it can occur any time but it’s all depending upon the host company how to handle such problem in order to keep the customer. If the user finds his/her web site dropping off line or slow downloading at a regular basis, then he/she should move to another web host company. If the problems pertain and the company is not paying attention to it means they are showing arrogant behavior towards their customers. Support is vital from a web host company and it should be 24 hour if it’s a large organization.

Virus Problems and Hackers

It is the responsibility of the company to ensure that the files of the customers are protected from virus and hackers at all times. There are number of companies having their web sites hacked and that happens only due to the reason that their web host company had not got the latest patches and security software applied. The new comers to web hosting should always ask how often updates and what software is used to protect web sites.

Tips:

One can have a good earning by his/her web site or can be this only source of income for him/her. Therefore one should always do his/her own backups of the web site. If due to any reason the web host company experiences problem and has no backups available, then the whole business could go stop. Backups are very crucial and have to be done as regular as possible in order to avoid problems afterwards. Some companies have testimonials on their web site from customers, one should not be afraid to call these guys for an up to date reference.

One should be very careful while dealing with host companies and should check recommendations and references very carefully. Always one should ask for the full contact details of the web hosting company, as there are many people who simply go online and have an email address only as the contact. Now if their email goes down and one needs to contact them one should have their full details at hand. One should always shop around for the different web hosting plans and should compare all the features available. On comparison it’s sure to get large differences, therefore it’s very important to check each and every thing before final sign up.

This article is useful for understanding the hosting industry and studies its dynamics to know what to look for before selecting a web host.

Firstly it is good to have a proper introduction of web hosting chain. It is termed as chain because here about 3 upstream providers serve the end consumer. First the web-hosting provider, who is in direct contact, then comes the web host’s upstream company who maintains the servers and sells space to web hosts, and above that, the data center that serves the purpose of providing the connection and houses the servers. There are some web hosts who act as the server administrator and liase with the data centers directly.

The growth of the web hosting industry in at saturation point due to the presence of hundreds of web-hosting providers claiming to provide cheaper and better services to businesses and individuals. The reason for this is the availability of resources in abundance and at cheaper costs with reducing disk space and data-transfer prices. Its easy to enter the web hosting business as there are large resellers of server space providing cheap hosting and reselling plans that provides ground to incomers to join the business.

Due to growing number of suppliers with cheaper reselling plans, more and more web hosting businesses are coming up providing web-hosting solutions to business and individual websites due to lower fixed costs and investment. Not only that this increase in supply is not caused by factors in any particular country. As Internet is not limited to the boundary of any country so the data centers present in any part of the world can easily provide the servers and web space for a local hosting company. Due to Internet it is easy to communicate to each other and providers can easily exchange their services in the global space.

Maintaining a proper balance between supply and demand is quite good for the customers. But imbalance has forced several new web-hosting providers to offer extremely low prices for their web hosting plans or packages in order to make them self stand in the tough market. Now it’s time for customers to choose the hosting providers having lowered prices from the vast number of providers.

However, continuous decrease in prices is quite disadvantageous for both the providers as well as the customers. By reduces prices, companies are able to earn nominal profit and are even not able to cover their support costs. Customers suffer by getting less support with their web-hosting accounts. It’s quite obvious if the profits do not justify the costs, web-hosting companies will easily close down and takes their clients’ sites with them.

The following are the factors to consider while choosing a web-hosting provider: -

The most important factor to consider is Support for any individual or small business looking for a web host for their websites. The Internet web-hosting provider who is unable to provide the facility of responding to emails within 24 hours is probably having problems providing fast and reliable support services. One can’t ignore the validity of these services especially for the beginners who needs guidance with publishing their websites on the web hosting account provided. The success of any web hosting business depends upon the relationships between web host and web hosting customers. To make business success, provider should be able to provide services when and where required also its crucial for customers to know when their site is going offline for sake of maintenance.

After support next important factor is Stability. It refers to how much uptime one can expect from the web-hosting provider, which in turn depends upon the providers’ servers and network. If the providers are not having reliable and stable providers, it would affect their servers and cause problems for the website. It is must to have an uptime of about 99.5% in the industry, as there are other external factors, which may be beyond control of the provider.

Third factor to consider is Cost which depends on the purpose of the website and budget. The budget may be smaller in case of Personal /Individual websites and so they opt to go with a cheaper web hosting provider, possibly in exchange for support and stability. But in case of business sites as they need better stability and support they opt for expensive host providers. It is most often observed that cheap web hosting providers are able to attract customers in the beginning by offering low prices but afterwards fails in providing quality support to their customers thereby creating problems for them. Also the large numbers of client sites cause sustained high server loads which leads to server crash thus hampering stability.

Another factor, which is not so important, is Location of the server. It is not considered important as it depends upon a user’s ISP/country’s connection to the data center where the server is located. Pings to the server normally tells the network latency to expect when people can access to one’s site. Lower ping rates leads to loading of site faster.

Last but not least one should take time to identify and contact a web host to check their service. This helps in providing an idea of the kind of support that one might receive and helps in deciding the reliability of the provider.

These days, anybody can afford to order a feature-packed web hosting plan for next to nothing; however, cheap price cannot said to be the decisive factor which one should have to considered while purchasing web hosting services. This article provides a lesson of not considering the best price and features as the only passport of getting a good web hosting company but also emphasizing on reliability and honesty. If one is investing his/her money and effort into finding paying customers and he/she wouldn’t like to lose them in the condition just in order to save a few dollars per month on a web hosting service.

If a user is searching for a web hosting company, it is not a matter of concern that it is just for the inception of a web or the move of an established site; the user has to widen his/her thinking area before coming to a judgment that along which company he or she has to go with:

Customer support

Website hosting service is not restricted just to storage or bandwidth. Lacking customer support, a top-notch service is also nothing. If one is owning a business website, it is both duty and requirement of his/her hosting provider to be available for the service- 24/7, as any time any sort of technical fault may arise; neglecting it the hosting provider may suffer from serious shortage of customers and money.

Downtime assurance and service monitoring

It is a minor inconvenience to go down when it is a case of personal website; but it is serious when it comes to business website. Can anyone guess how much amount of profit would he/she lose if his/her site had been down for a week? As it is a trend of spending a large amount on advertising the website a long downtime can be lethal for today’s companies.

Basically, there are two rules upon which one can relay:

1. One should check if there is an uptime guarantee offered or not. An ideal service-oriented provider will not only give a money-back guarantee, but also offer a discount or free service as compensation for downtime. A company which avoids taking such liability will not provide an ideal service.

2. One should not go with a company claiming 100% uptime, as there is no such thing as a server with 100% uptime. If anyone ever announces that their server has a 100% uptime; one can easily conclude that they are either lying or they don’t perform the necessary upgrades that avoid a machine from being compromised.

Reputable web hosts will post statistics on their site, the remedial solution for the questions like for e.g., what is the frequency of interruption. How about the average percentage of downtime? If these aren’t posted, ask; if the answer isn’t forthcoming, that is not going to be a good sign. If one still likes to go with a host which doesn’t monitor servers, one has to do it by his/her own.

Backups

IS there any host who is safe against different types of technical and programical failures, the answer is NO! So, one should make sure that the company runs scheduled backups. The other probable advice would be that one must always have a backup of his/her website himself/herself, as one cannot predict what exactly is going to happen next. CPanel, currently the most popular web hosting management software, has a very comfortable backup-making tool. Which allows the user to backup files and databases quickly and easily, so backups are not a long head ace.

Acceptable use policy

Web hosts may have 200-300 or more clients per server; one cannot predict the exact number, as companies possess different hardware; while, each hosted website has different resource usage. One cannot ignore the probability of that a few of those customers host illegal content. There are several web hosts who have had their servers unplugged, resulting in their clients’ websites going down. Definitely ,one would never like to put his/her business at risk and locate the website hosted on the same server along with illegal pornography and software sites, so to avoid such types of problems one must check host’s acceptable use policy to find out, whether the host takes care of what’s hosted on their servers or not.

Hosting one’s site on an uncared-for server will also result in a low speed. If somebody on the same server sends spam, the server’s IP address will be blacklisted and he/she will have serious problems as recipients would stop his/her receiving emails. Spam is being sent almost everywhere, so having one or two red records isn’t that bad; but, if there are more, it may become a problem later on.

Infinite bandwidth and web space

If one talks about the adage “you get what you pay for” it ideally suit for the Web hosting industry. One should not fall in the craters created by the hosts like for e.g., unlimited allowances, as there is neither unlimited bandwidth, nor unlimited web space. Host’s pay for each GB of bandwidth themselves. One can think that hard drives are free but they aren’t. They are just a mirage to attract customers. The average website doesn’t use more than 1GB of bandwidth per month; the customer is satisfied as he/she bought something “unlimited” and through this host automatically receives a new customer, on whom they don’t need to spend more than $1-2 USD per month. But for imagination what would happen if one person had a website, burning much more bandwidth than an average site does, and he signed up with a hosting company offering unlimited traffic? The host would simply suspend his account and tell him, that it was via too much bandwidth. There even several companies there which offer unlimited bandwidth for the user and have a statement on their requisites of service, explaining that unlimited bandwidth means 40GB which they actually mean, for example.

Will someone really own his/her domain name?

If a user buy a domain name together with a website hosting package, he/she must make sure that the host is registered the domain name under his/her name or not. The name usually should be written in their FAQ, but, if there is no such information is provided, the user simply needs to take a step and contact them. This will also give the user a chance to detect whether their customer support team is fast enough or not. If the hosting company registers domains under someone else’s name, the user may have to face the challenges switching hosting providers later. If the user is in such situation, he/she have to file for a Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), which costs much beyond both domain name and web hosting service together.

Control Panel

If one’s new website is all set to upload, the next desirable thing for him/her is a web host. Conceivably he/she already possesses a web host, but uptime and support are lacking. With several scattering web hosts all around how can the users choose an ideal one? One should be aware of what can go wrong and what to look out for, and investigate prospective web hosts cautiously.

Mistake, which may appear with web hosting

Excessive downtime:

It is inevitable that problems arise in the course of time happen, but even in the condition in which they don’t appear server maintenance results in a minimal amount of downtime. One can not only hope a dependable web host for well maintenance of his/her servers, but also expect monitoring the servers and fixing of problems immediately. With the type of web host one want to avoid, however, his/her site may be down for days.

Features that cannot be put in use:

Once the email of the user doesn’t work, his/her business shuts down. Problems related to databases and other features can also deliberate down or stop his/her business. Such problems are taken into consideration by several web hosts, but a few don’t concern to give high priority on keeping not only the user’s site online but everything working as well.

Ghastic support:

The response time taken by the dependable web hosts to answer tech support questions is utmost a single hour. Other web hosts, however, have been recognized to take several days to give response. And when those responses come, often they’re canned responses that don’t deal with the issue.

Poor communication:

If proper level communication skills are present, it supports people to restrict problems from becoming bigger problems. As told, “Everything looks fine here, so the problem is solved,” promotes irritation. Thus, one’s site can shut down because it has used plenty of resources rather than the web host contacting him/her about the problem first.

Troubles of Billing:

Yet problems persist even after user cancels his/her account. A number of below dependable range web hosts don’t repute their refund policy. Others do not discontinue the automatic billing even after cancellation of account.

Things to watch out for:

One should consider the following as the red flags to warn the user of possible problems that can come on their way.

Untenable pricing:

If the pricing looks to the extent of superb to be true, it perhaps is. Will it be sufficient to pay for server maintenance and tech support? One gets similar what he/she deserve to pay for.

Limitless bandwidth:

There is not anything which is really unlimited in real sense. If one signs up for an account offering limitless bandwidth and then uses a lot of bandwidth, anticipating having the plug pulled on his/her site. The web host may locate further excuse for discontinuing his/her account, but “unlimited” classically represent that “as long as you don’t use a lot.”

A website with unprofessional look:

The user foremost consider how much effort the web host is putting in providing a usable website along with informative content. Does it really mean that user has got full confidence in the web host, or is it overwhelmed of unsubstantiated statements and grammar and spelling mistakes? A web host doesn’t require being a specialist in spelling insertion, of course. But if the company hasn’t advertise much enough to the user about their services, will they be meticulous about matching the clients’ requirements?

Way to research web hosts:

It is quite easy to look out for web hosts. Search engines can be one of the ways to went on the websites of thousands of web hosts. But short listening after going through features and price, how can the customer look out which web hosts are reliable?

Interpret particulars of web host package and TOS:

If the host provider is offering hosting packages with huge amounts of disk space and bandwidth for quite cheap prices, that means something is fishy around. One should not expect that company to be well equipped with enough money for maintenance and support.

If one wants to be sure that he/she can get a refund if he/she want one, should ensure what the Terms of Service (TOS) signify about refunds.

One should examine the web host forum:

User should be aware about the questions like, what is the ambience in the forum. Are clients’ questions answered satisfactorily? The user should not be anxious on seeing a problem but in the condition when they don’t. It is quite common that, some web hosts remove posts that don’t demonstrate their company in a positive light. But if posts about problems stay in the forum, the user can easily monitor the way the host use to tackle the problem.

User should examine web host reviews:

There is no lack of cases in which, client feedback at the web host’s site perhaps may or may not be legal. One could not ignore the possibility of manufacturing of feedback and tracing it from other sites. The user should inquire about that via different web sites.

There are several forums which permits people to post their web host reviews. While reading the reviews, one should deem the poster’s credibility. A few people knock their hosts just because of the reason that they’re unhappy about somewhat. If the host posts in response to a problem, the user should inquire the way host tries to resolve it.

Inquire about the background of the company:

The page which displays the points like “About Us” or “Company Background” should disclose the answer of following questions.

1.) The experience of the company in this sector. A new company perhaps is excellent, but it’s good to keep in mind that an ample of businesses fails within the first year.

2.) Does the company use to publish a privacy policy? And does this policy clearly protect clients’ privacy?

3.) Where are the servers located? Ideally, they should be in a datacenter, and not in someone’s basement.

4.) About the server uptime statistics? If the web host doesn’t publish a link to a server uptime monitor, one should ask for a link to one. Uptime of about 99.7 percent or higher is usually considered good.

5.) Does the company publish an address? The user perhaps should not be in the need of it, but when he/she placing his/her company website in another company’s hands, it is his/her right to know that the company is legal and handy.

Email pre-sales queries

Response to user’s pre-sales questions will tell more than enough about the web host. One can easily judge how fast the company responds and about their communication efficiency. One can ask questions about any of the above points as well as questions precise to his/her requirements.

There is no doubt, that, Finding a dependable web host spends time, but dealing with problems and moving one’s site rather takes more amount of time. The time spent searching for a reliable web host is a worthwhile investment.

The question that comes to a user’s mind after possessing a website is about hosting his/her website. Several companies are there in the market offering various hosting services in various ranges of fee and services, making it difficult to choose the ideal alternative.

Several avenues are available to explore to locate this best deal. The user can ask the company who designed his/her website, if they know of any hosting companies which they could suggest. Along with that one can explore the Internet with the help of search engine for e.g. Google.

In case user possesses a large quantity of websites, for which he/she requires hosting, it is significant to consider a reseller account. This is an area where user needs to loose his/her pocket a little bit more, usually in form of high yearly fee, and is allowed a limitless amount of websites on the same server floor.

An ideal host charges £500 annually and this works out to be a lot cheaper than having individual hosting accounts for each of one’s websites. There are other companies offering cheap services and usually no body gets any problem with that except their customer support is worst.

Talking about responses to the problem, generally, an ideal hosting company provides answer of lot of the questions though their control panel, therefore it is quite rare that the customer needed to contact them for such purposes.

It is a universal fact that, one cannot consider the entire hosting plans equivalent to each other. What way one can seek a host both ideal and affordable? Certainly, it is not an easy task. One needs to consider several aspects.

First issue to concern is off course, Price. Everyone wishes the total worth of their money investment. Hence, one should carefully measure all the hosting companies and compare their features.

What sort of actual traffic can user get from his/her reasonable hosting provider?

The answer of this can vary host to host few may be very liberal and few may not. One should verify while choosing a hosting plan that features should favor the amount of traffic to grow. On searching one can find numerous hosts permitting medium amount of traffic without charging any extra amount.

What category of disk space do they provide? User should not go along with a hosting service not providing space as per his/her expectations. One can match the statistics. There are several available hosts in the market delivering ample amount of space without high charges.

What about their service record? Do their clients frequently suffer from downtime or not? This is because mentioning “this page is currently unavailable” can certainly demoralize the visitors.

Another crucial factor is having a host delivering a significant traffic statistic reporting feature. One can utilize this detail to aim his/her advertisement and examine his/her traffic. There are several hosting plans which a user can not only afford but they also provide effective statistical programs plus any other information necessary to manage a site.

Many hosting companies in addition to above mentioned features will provide the facility of domain name registration and its renewal in their package. Quite good isn’t it!

Certainly, if one goes to the hosting market he/she will find numerous amounts of scattered hosting options at a nominal cost. User should take his/her own time to evaluate considerable plans and packages. At last, one should keep in mind that his/her ultimate aim is to increase the traffic. So, be sure that concerned host to whom one is going to deal with can hold it properly.

“Bargains for sale, Unlimited Hosting for only a Dollar.”

“Get your hosting here, 50 cents for the first three months. “

“Use now. Pay later”.

Nowadays instead of who has got the larger and superior offer it’s who’s is the cheapest and they usually get it at an “unlimited level” in the world of hosting. In Webhosting Even though the servers may possibly be the same, the service & price varies with each company. So why not get it at a best cheaper price when everyone is offering the same control panel, running off of the same type of servers or even from the same data center.

It is not always true that cheapest cannot offer the best service so always remember the old proverb “you get what you pay for”

The costs involved in running a small hosting company that manages a few, low-cost servers from a highly regarded data center can be broken down. During the last few years dedicated server business has grown and competition has created the accessibility of unmanaged, low-cost server rentals have low down to $49 per month.

Let’s explain this with an example. Suppose a server has been leased by Blair from a highly regarded data center at an average price of $89 per month. His set up fees was also waived during his sign up time so he was very lucky too. He has his own dedicated UNIX server running one of the more popular control panels that regular hosting customers like to use at a cost of just $89. Now Blair, runs the business out of his house like several small one or two-man hosting companies as it is almost impossible to obtain office space in the locality of the data center, not to mention that he could be in one state and the server might be three states over.

By giving a dedicated server on lease he is not responsible for the hardware and has to just maintain the software. Thus Blair is free from the additional expenses of hardware replacement and he can focus his investment on marketing, software, scripts and service.

Apart from being a good salesman Blair also has a mature understanding of running a business. Blair’s best friend Joe has a good knowledge of managing server and its software, this way they together manage most general facet of business on a daily basis. They have procured or designed a good website. For support items such as tutorials and a customer forum they have spend on an average $600. Their preliminary investment averaged at $1000 with the website design and extras. They hope to recover this amount within the first six months of process. A number of small hosting companies try to avoid this added cost at the beginning, but remember if one is serious about running a company, one has to place some type of investment into it. Blair and Joe are spending more than $250 monthly, if we take the initial investment and spread it over 6 months and add the cost of servers at $89 for the first one during the first six months of operation on minimum expenses without including other expenses such as their salaries and outside expenses such as phone bills (if they offer phone support), utilities, advertising expenses, etc.

Since Bob is opening a new company with no customers, he can obtain 25-30 customers monthly if he works really hard, as an average amount of customers or domains to have on an individual server is 200. Eight months of growth, without including the costs involved during that time is required to fill server. Without any extra expenses and no personal income derived from the business enterprise the cost of operation for the period of those eight months is estimated at $1700. They can make a profit of $100 at the end of 8 months if they charge $2 per customer on a recurring monthly basis and signed up 25 customers per month. Keep this is mind that this is done without making any personal income. The cost jumps considerably once they add in an advertising budget and allotment for person income. They are in the business to make money and not to make friends as $100 spread over eight months is not much.

Now Supposing Advertising budget of Blair and Joe is $500 this cost is essential to acquire customers lets start adding a small income for Blair and Joe of $1000 monthly each and calculate what they need to charge to break even after those first eight months. Including cover salaries, server cost, advertising and other miscellaneous items safer estimate would be $3000 monthly. If during the first eight months they are able to signup 200 customers to cover the $3000 monthly overhead they would need to charge $15 per customer. They would need to signup an estimate of 2,000 customers to charged only $2 per customer. As Blair and Joe would be charging only $2 per customer they have to support 2,000 customers all by themselves because they don’t have enough profit to hire any more technicians.

As a customer before shopping for a hosting company, one needs to realize these things. One can ask oneself what type of company one wants hosting his website and what kind of website need to be hosted now that we are educated on the backend of a hoster’s life. One could choose one of the many free or low cost webhosting solutions available if one is running a small personal site that doesn’t need constant uptime and special scripts. This way if at any time the company was to go under or lost all information due to hardware or software failure, then one is really not at a lost because the website did not contain important information.

It is very important to find a stable company with quality support and service that doesn’t come cheap if one has a site that contain critical information and is the lifeblood of the company. Try to find the one with the best solutions and don’t be afraid to spend more for less. In short don’t go cheap. Also make sure that the company offers reliable backup solutions and has a reasonable uptime if information is very important.

Remember the phone numbers as phone support is a must for quick response. Hosting companies that charge more can hire the extra technicians to hold ones hand as one build web presence and company which is very important in today’s market. Can we conclude that cheap hosting is a bad risk and should be avoided? No, one just has to remember that, “One gets what one has paid for.”

“Of course there is an up side to going with a free web hosting service. The obvious is it’s free. There will never be fee for your domain name. Unfortunately that’s about the only up side I can see.

The main downside to selecting a free web hosting service is the advertisements and pop-ups that are non stop. Also you URL will have their company name in it, for example username.freeserversz.com.

Free web hosting services usually allow a lower bandwidth then paid hosts. Sometimes free web hosting sites have been known to change their terms & conditions, or even cancel their free hosts and force you to either pay them or lose your site. In essence, the free host controls everything you and your website does, and this isn’t good. If you ever want to monetize your site in the future, you’ll be severely limited with what you can do. How can you monetize your site if you don’t control it?

If you are planning on using your website as a person site for family and friends, then a free web hosting is sufficient. However if you are using your website for business purposes, then like mentioned before it is highly recommended you invest in a paid web hosting service.

There is only one downside to paid hosting, they cost you money. However there are many upsides included in this investment. With paid hosting you host your own domain, so if you change the web hosting service in the future you can easily transfer the domain to your new provider with out any loss of traffic.

Paid hosting services usually offer 24/7 customer support through email, live-chat, or toll-free phone support. With paid hosting you are generally offered enough disk space and bandwidth. The internet offers free PHP scripts that you can download and easily use, even if you aren’t a computer programmer.

With dedicated server web hosting, the server is completely dedicated to your website and your website traffic. That means that the server isn’t clogged with several sites that the company or server may be hosting. This can cause problems in the long run, such as the system crashing because of too much traffic and more. Also, with dedicated server web hosting, you have the extra security because the server is dedicated to your site and your site only so it’s more focused on security breaches and keeping others out of your system.
Dedicated server web hosting can be done on your own. You only need buy the server and set it up to only host your site. Of course, you are going to need how to work the server and you’re going to have to be at least a little computer literate. If you’re not, take a class or ask a professional to help you set it up. Buying and managing your own dedicated server web hosting can be a cheaper way to go about web hosting but you might be in trouble in case your dedicated server web hosting crashes or malfunctions. Sometimes, it’s good to have a professional on hand in case you need the services.
Ask A Professional’s Help
Search your local yellow pages or ask your friends and acquaintances if they have any companies or professionals in mind who will handle your dedicated server web hosting for you. It might cost you a little more but there’s no price that you can put on the added security and the fact that someone is watching over your network in case anything should go wrong.
So, be smart about your web hosting services and if you have the money, you should definitely try dedicated server web hosting. Find a company who handles this sort of work, ask to see examples of their work and ask to talk to referrals who have used their services before so that you can determine if they’re who you want to go with. Your web site is important to your business, this isn’t something you want to take lightly.

The Actual Trouble

It is quite frequent that a chain of systematic incidents take place with the new (inexperienced) webmaster as he/she signs-up with the first good hosting plan by just observing the glittering surface he/she can watch; then he/she purchases a domain name, built up a site, produce a small income, and then gets excited and remarks “Hey, this works, I should make another site”. Commencing from this point the webmaster buy a new domain and start functioning on a new site just for realizing that his/her hosting plan supports only 1 pointed domain; and he/she will need to buy a totally new hosting plan for the purpose of per new domain name.

But talking about the quantity of “pointed domains” which a web-hosting plan can support is habitually ignored from the side of new webmasters. It is quite expectable that it is not at all seems to be important in the beginning but afterwards its need is felt. It is among other important factors which are ignored in the beginning like space, bandwidth, price etc. As discussed earlier, beginner’s more often while purchasing a hosting plan did not even consider the quantity of pointed domains. It did not put impact on them early but several months later they decide to initiate a new website. But, some beginners even remain lucky as they for e.g. stumble into a plan that permits around 50 pointed domains.

Solution

So, after knowing the problem the solution would be to have as many pointed domains as possible. There are several instances where a user lament on his/her decision of buying such an ample amount of domain and say to himself/herself “God!, I am never going to have a need for 50 domains that’s just a waste”. If a user possesses mindset like above mentioned, he/she definitely will always dream about that next big idea, that next big website that he/she is going to shape. One should not hinder himself/herself by choosing a host that cannot support all his/her dreams because wings are there to reach the sky not for show.

One cannot deny the fact that, choosing an ideal web host is a daunting task. One will not have an opportunity to go to host’s head office to whom he/she is going to deal with, even he/she is unable to meet with the owners of that company, to measure whether their and user’s view matches or not which makes it more miserable.

In the majority of cases, a user comes to the conclusion by surfing the details on website.

The actual search begins right from the host’s website with whom the user has decided to deal with. Does their website possess a professional look? Silly errors like typing, spelling and grammatical can easily suggest the user that what types of people are running the company.

Can a person use that website without any problem? Is purpose of designing the web is for assisting the people? Assisting resources are available on the website or not? Evaluation of these questions will easily inform the user about the importance of client for that particular company.

Which is the place where the company is situated? What is the address? Do they provide the facility of email?

One should go carefully through the conditions of Service providing. The user should ensure that the web host has clearly mentioned both their priority and anticipation from the user in their document. No doubt, every deal is different from other, but everybody should know what each deal signifies.

Subsequently, user should extract information about the company through search engine, such as, Google. Is user getting any unfair report? Offbeat searching methods can also be useful, for example, displaying company’s name pursued by words such as “scam”, “poor support” etc.

At last, one should throw electronic mails to the customer support department to check how much the duration of their response is. Is it slow or instant?

If one seriously considers the above mentioned tips, it is not impossible to locate a needle from a lump of sand!!

Today, there will be quite few webmasters only who were not common to “shared” web hosting accounts. The term shared hosting account refers to a place where one can rent a small amount of space on the server along with several other clients.

It may seem to be a cheap way to begin online but user needs to face several problems also. Chiefly, user may counter problems related to email delivery. This may be due to complaints of spam on other sites but on the same server. User will find his/her site in a crater, if any other client will possess heavy load on the same server. In addition to it one may need to face downtime due to antisocial activities such as hacking etc.

What way one can avoid all these circumstances?

Answer is quite simple, rising to a virtual dedicated server. It will act as user’s own dedicated server. Quite cheaper as user will user only a part of the server.

One can refer search engines for this purpose just by typing “virtual dedicated hosting”. Virtuozzo is the chief commercial software used to run such services.

User can find virtual dedicated server accounts beginning at the price of $30 per month in the market. User can enjoy an ample amount of bandwidth plus several exclusive IP addresses and can avoid troubles usually prevailing with shared hosting.

Thus, what is the actual benefit? Not more than spending high amount every month. Requirement of technical command is must when one deal with virtual dedicated hosting. One can consider it to be a drawback in this sector.

User should denote time to understand essential Linux skills so that his/her server can work efficiently.

One can find several hosting providers in the market delivering a “premium” support to the users so that inexperienced and unfamiliar users to Linux or virtual dedicated hosting can also carry out their work efficiently.

One can enjoy speed and bandwidth without much trouble when it comes to virtual dedicated hosting. However, user must have some money to spend. One should take any decision carefully because no one is going to be adversely affected other than the user when his/her site suffers from difficulties.

Think! A user possesses a web site, searching for a hosting company to host it. Options are plenty but when it comes to affordability and reliability they are quite few. Hence, how a user can know which the ideal one is? What are the qualities in a good hosting company?

Given below are some of the tips which can assist the user to end the search to an ideal hosting company:

1. Is the site having a professional look?

A company website reflects the identity of that company. User should verify that the host’s site is designed to perfection and have a matured look.

2. Does their customer service available by phone during user’s peak hours and email service throughout 24 hours a day, seven days a week?

Several Hosting companies take a huge time to response back and some even don’t make their phone number available to the user. One can secretly inquire about there customer service potential like for example through a call containing a problem. This will give the user an idea about there response time. It is very essential before making a contract with a company.

3. Are they too lenient than requirement with the cost or robbing with the cost?

One should keep the mind open, while reading next lines. If the host of a particular user is charging under $5 then the probability of inferior quality service and technology will be quite high. Also if the service costs are more than the usual then it can be a sweetly robbing case. One cannot conclude a fix amount when it comes to web hosting pricing, it can vary from host to host according to their standard and quality of service and reliability.

Hence, a host no.1 can only be that company which provides excellent and firm support, always be ready to serve the customers with a smile, and above all, should value his/her customers. User should not get magnetized towards absurd declarations of hosting companies. There is no means that companies demanding high payments will provide more facilities.

1. The consistency of the service:

First of all think of a brand new hosting company which show off several features, dream of every user but alas! It doesn’t survive for too long. Let’s complete it with an example there is a company offering 500MB of storage capacity, 10GB of bandwidth a month, domain hosting, unlimited domain parking, CPanel along with all possible features, entirely no ads, and this merely for 150 posts in their forum. Outstanding as a dream? But after making few bucks they simply went offline. No declaration in advance, no regret, not anything!

Factors to be kept in mind:

1. Design:

A decent layout is quite important for the consideration. One should verify that the host to whom he/she is going to deal with possess a professional site or just a free template site, which is probably just a waste of time, nothing else.

What is their experience in this sector? It doesn’t mean that new sprung hosting services are worthless, but at least two months experience is quite essential.

One should also enquire about their Google PR, ranking, other locations etc. If the concern site possesses numerous inbound links, the host will have a good budget to maintain his/her client’s site.

2. Advertisements

One should also check for the ads that are placed on one’s space by his/her free web host. It is really annoying to display someone else’s ads on one’s page and it is in real sense the price user has to pay for free service of the provider. However there are some hosts who don’t put these banners or other forms of advertising in exchange for their services.

Thus one should look for:

1) How are the ads looking like in one’s page: User should keep in mind that the color patter of his/her site should not get disturbed with the color of the banner or ad placed by the provider? It is always better that user should select a host who permits user to place a banner code anywhere the user wants. This is the best way as the user is free to place the banner at the place of his/her ease.

2) To check if the host is displaying targeted ads: If one’s site displays totally contrast ads then it is really annoying for one’s visitors example if one’s site is for pet care and the ad is displaying car sale then it is really unprofessional. Moreover one must watch out for sites that display pornographic ads.

3) The kind of ads hosts are displaying: One should never at any cost sign up for a site that advertises through popups. The disadvantage of popups is that they are like a threat of viruses and so visitors don’t like to return back to one’s site after experiencing them.

4) Is the host permitting the user to display his/her own ads: User should check if the host is allowing him/her to display his/her own ads. This issue is not at all small and so user must take it seriously.

3. Availability of tools and scripts available

There are some good features like forums, guest books, counters; polls etc which one can use as additional to his/her site. If user is not willing to handle installing such an addon from a third party then he/she can search for a hosting provider who provides it in advance. One should understand that such tools are not always the best and most are available without any cost. In contrast, if user selects an hosting providing few or no such tools then they probably needs to counter a slow server which will adversely affects the clients.

4. Available bandwidth and situation after full consumption:

It doesn’t matter the size of one’s site but user should verify that the available bandwidth must be at least 1GB a month. The concern host should be such that who propose a paid subscription rather just jamming the accessibility of one’s page as he/she consumed the entire quota of bandwidth. This can be effective to maintain the flow of traffic with out any form of barrier.

To understand better here is simple calculation if one’s pages average are of 50kB, including images, or (approx.) 0.05MB. Now let’s assume one’s visitors browse 3 pages on average, before they leave the site. That is equivalent to 3 x 0.05 = 0.15 MB. Now after dividing 1GB (or 1,000 MB) by 0.15, the result obtained would be 6,666 i.e. the average number of visitors one can expect in one month without exceeding the bandwidth quota. Now after dividing that by 30 one will get 222 visitors per day. One should also keep in mind that search engines also consumes bandwidth which can be even consumption of as much as 100MB if one is having large number of pages.

5. What one’s URL will seem like?

Although one can receive a short URL without any cost from several sites, however, it’s quite nice if one’s host offer a URL that’s easy to memorize. One should go for a host that offers a sub domain if accessible (http:// www.one’saccount.theirdomain.com instead to http://www.theirdomain.com/one’saccount).

Introduction:

The importance of support can be explained in form of a small example as depicted here, imagine one is in a business of running a small-medium sized online store that concentrates on affordably prized gift items, and now lets say, it’s Christmas time. Now it is sure that everybody is busy in shopping and the use him/her self will be waiting for this day to come, as it is the time of the year when his/her business really blooms, and with which he/she will get revenue to plan next event or business.

Now imaging a biggest trouble came, say his/her site goes down due to some sort of problems associated with server on 23rd of December, or on Christmas Eve. To make the things worst user is not able to get hosting company as well. Now what will happen? How he/she would react when he/she won’t get such support at this moment of time? Now this explains why prompt support required is.

The above example is just a small example and believe it or not things can even go worst that this. It is a true fact that the quality of support builds the foundation of hosting company. It is the foundation on which the whole building of hosting firm rests. The features like speedy and accurate customer service are rare to be seen, but they are the things, which make one company successful. Along with these features one should take care for performance, Space, Traffic allowed, Features, Cost, and most importantly Customer support.

In order to check the credibility of a hosting company, customer support is considered as a main factor. If a company wants to prove its credibility it has to take care of its technical support at any cost. For a user it’s really important to know if technical support is dependable or not as if anything goes wrong with his/her site, then he/she has to contact the company and cure is only possible if it is directly provided by the hosting company itself.

There are several or rather say almost all companies to claim to offer services like techs working round the clock in their organizations, managing their state-of-the art systems etc. But in reality we know that it is mere a fake trap. Due to excess demand of information technology professionals now days, many web-hosting companies are unable to find employees who are well trained in OS concepts, network technology and control panel specifications

In this article we are giving the brief outlines of the hosting support considerations for the beginners as well as any host who have got high regards for the quality standards of their company.

Right support:

It’s really quite difficult to find perfect support for one’s company. For every web host who gives serious thought to hosting support would be having certain expectation levels regarding the quality of support. It is only if one’s support is marvelous that one can feel relaxed as his/her customers are also going to feel relaxed due to this.

In this context the most important thing to consider is how to provide round the clock support and that too whole year. It is quite often seen that every web host just promises to provide support 24 / 7 and even promises to offer money back guarantee in case he/she is not able to provide that. But in reality such things are rare. So, one should take care to have best support team to offer support round the clock through out the year. One should ensure proper administration and supervision to check the quality as well as the working style of support people.

Cost:

Next parameter to consider is cost. One should consider this point as well, for maintaining cost it is better to have own team of technical experts, or outsourcing to an outsourced hosting support company. One should select support wisely with efficient computations of his/her expenses and profit margin. It is advisable to do calculations in such a way that the quality of support can be kept and simultaneously good profit can also be earned even in the long run. One should keep in mind that due to intense competition in the beginning profits are not much but keeping quality will benefit in the long run as all will be out from the market offering poor services.

In order to control cost, it is not only possible to control it via controlling technical factors but also non technical aspects like sales / billing support and timely administration of servers etc. In order to save cost one can manage the sales / billing issues by his/her own or he/she can avail the services of a fresher. For the server administration, one requires the service of a good system administrator to perform the timely software upgrades, and the other fine tuning aspects of the server in order to make it run smooth. It’s always considered an additional utility to maintain a team of technical experts who are able to perform technical support as well as server administration instead of employing separate teams for the same. Thus the above things can easily reduce cost and no doubt without compromising quality.

What to choose? In-House or Outsourced

Now next important thing to consider is whether it is required to have an in-house team of technicians, or one can outsource support to a support company? There are several people with different opinions on this matter; therefore we are taking both the pros and cons to conclude which one is better.

Pros:

In-House

1) It is possible to have direct interaction with the support staff in person.

2) It is possible to recruit directly the support staff by own.

3) Also local market knowledge and expertise can be known well when it comes to sales and marketing

4) In case of emergency, ready availability-upon-call of in house team.

Outsourced

1) It is cost effective as compared to above.

2) One can concentrate better on his/her own business marketing as anyone else is taking care of technical aspect.

3) Biggest advantage is availability of expertise in specific fields.

4) No problems with the planning of shifts or personnel to manage the 24 / 7 support, as it is now headache of the outsource company.

5) No training cost.

Cons:

In-House

1) Its quite expensive as compared to Outsourced.

2) Burden of personnel management in maintaining an in-house team for support

3) Requirement of dynamism as remedies is to be taken immediately.

Outsourced

1) It is not possible to have direct interaction in person with the support staff.

2) Its important to have accustomed with own support people, as they might keep on changing according to the outsource company’s internal policies.

3) Needs perfection of language (spoken or written)

Conclusion:

To conclude, it is always better to select a good outsourced support firm, that maintains it’s promises and does not comprise on quality instead of employing own separate staff to handle the technical support, sales / billing and server administration.

While surfing the web one can find an immense amount of web hosting companies putting forward several hosting plans. But a user should keep in mind certain things before purchasing any one of them. These certain things are: reliability of the company, space provided by them, and can they match the requirement of the user.

Nothing is more important then reliability while searching for a web host. The host should assure at least 99% uptime to the user. If host is undependable, the sufferer will be client with losing the traffic at regular interval. One can check reliability of a particular host by going through reviews of people for that particular company. A user can easily accomplish it by going to different search engines. If opinions are positive about uptime then one can consider that particular host a dependable one, but one cannot come to actual conclusion without confirming it by own.

Another centered aspect is disk space. How can a user know about the actual amount of disk space required by him/her to fulfill the task? If one talk about a basic user his/her web site will be less than 7MB. If a user does not have a lot of workload then ample amount space is not a criterion. But, if one talk about the webmasters having huge sites and incorporating video, audio and large graphics in their site then enormous amount of space is demanded thing. Paying for space not in use is not a worth while deal. Thus if one requires more space he/she should search and check if the host offers an upgraded plan for him/her or not.

What can be the ideal amount of bandwidth for a particular user? For a beginner, not receiving an ample amount of traffic the basic bandwidth is quite sufficient, but using video, audio, and larger graphics demands bandwidth. One should start with the basic bandwidth and upgrade it as per requirement.

One should also keep in mind the features required while selecting a web host. These features can be –is there any requirement for the server side scripting like PHP, JSP, ASP or any other scripting language that the user want to use in his/her program or the user should check if he/she wants to use these with his/her web site. In addition one most important feature is CPanel, which the user must check in advance as well as it offers a user interface to applications on the server, such as setting up FTP, email, etc.

Thus one must act wisely while selecting a web host.
